  1. definitely rockin' a serious palmsweat after watching that! fair play to him. I reckon thats down at Ocean village.
  2. SIPs Progress, Type C's for me. Brilliant fit, had mine a year and they are just about hanging in there. Also really like the lace tag on the front of each trouser leg to stop the ankles riding up. I figure that I wont ever bother buying type A's because i know ill end up climbing in them. At the moment i know no different so im happy:001_cool: Anybody tried out the new Dyneema ballistics? A couple of companies have started to make them. Supposed to be 25% lighter!
  3. Absolutely! My mistake, I didn't mean to encourage you to overlook the numerous decent companies that are not approved. I only suggest this as a way of appeasing the council, through the use of one of their approved contractors.
  4. My opinion is the same as many of the other guys on here. I would contact the TO and ask if there is anything the council can do about it (prune back/remove). If they seem reluctant to take care of it, offer to A) pay for an approved contractor to carry out the removal B) pay for an approved contractor to prune back to boundary line. If they are strict, using an approved contractor to carry out the work may encourage them to take that route. This should also protect you against getting ripped off and ensure a decent standard of works is carried out. Can't guarantee that they will definitely go for it, however it is likely. Hopefully they will just offer to take care of it for you though. Hope this of help
  5. I'll be there on the Saturday! Looking forward to picking up few treats whilst I'm there!
  6. Awesome, thanks for that raafbeard! Definitely gonna print that out!
  7. Anybody climbing in/putting these through their paces? Husqvarna Technical 20C Design C Class 1 I'm looking for a new set of ballistics and fancy these. I'm using the sips progress at the moment and really rate them, but was just wondering if anyone has tried these out? Cheers!
  8. Love the look of that pulley/rack, would love to give that a whirl! I climb predominately SRTWP and have been waiting for somebody to bring something like this to the table (seeing as I can't get ahold of the rope runner till 2014). I also like the way this can be geared up to different sizes of rope! Is the rack made out of steel components? Would you be able to tell me how the rack is anchored to the hitchclimber? Some of the guys on here have been making hitchclimber-zigzag hybrids but I'm not too sure if I'd trust that setup given the recent revelations regarding the zigzag. Plus I don't think they've designed it for SRTWP. Keep up the good work Cheers!
  9. That's a sweet idea! Thats my only concern with the fatmax now, although i havent come across a rigging situation it couldnt handle since making it a few weeks ago. to be honest i Didn't even know retractable fly fishing reels existed, do you have any idea on price or where to go online for one? Definitely interested in replacing the fatmax if it can provide more line with a similar level of ruggedness.
  10. I use a wirecore for dismantles and rope for other pruning works. I just feel it gives me a bit more cut resistance when swinging the saw around wildly hahaha. It's down to personal preference in my opinion. I know a couple of guys who only climb on rope and they get on just fine! I would just say don't let other people tell you how to climb. But at the same time don't close your mind to new things especially if they might keep you safer/make your day easier!
  11. Ahh no horror stories! Hahaha. Iv just heard it struggles to bite down in various scenarios. Don't wish to knock it, a lot of people rate it, just wanted to share what I'd heard. I'd really like to give the 10mm AP a go, especially now I'm climbing on a thinner line. Let us know how you get on Shevtron!
  12. Iv heard funny stories about ocean polyester and various climbing line combinations. I've found the green 8mm armor is pretty much unbeatable, but not tested to every countries safety standards (doesn't have a uk en rating). Honey bros sell an 80cm e2e. I have a feeling stein have just rebranded and recoloured armor prus. They are selling theirs for 25 plus vat. Hope this helps
  13. I use one of these - [ame]http://www.amazon.co.uk/Black-Diamond-Micron--/dp/B0001KY0SM/ref=sr_1_31?s=sports&ie=UTF8&qid=1368637608&sr=1-31&keywords=Black+diamond+carabiner[/ame] It's real solid and I never seem to have problems with it getting caught in unions. I highly recommend one

    A new hybrid

This looks prime! I'm gonna keep a close eye on this thread. I'd be really interested to see if it translates to srt!? That's some solid work guys

    A day in the life

Hi reg, what's the flipline that you are using in that video? Just curious cos I haven't seen anything that fat in use over here in the UK. Sweet to get an insight into work over there, cheers for the vid and keep em coming!
  16. Same again. But I use a vented silverbull rope bag for my line. I'd recommend a waterproof bag for kit so if it starts to chuck it down while your up the tree you don't have to worry about it getting soaked through.
  17. I use my pantin on almost every climb, unless its a piddler. You won't regret buying one!
  18. That looks real tidy, nice one sirnick . Cant wait to try it out come monday. Also like ficcus' set up, guess it is all situation dependant as to which method to use, just love the idea of a retrievable redirect. Quick question to DMC, dependant on the tie off area say 5ft down the same limb (creating essentially a Fishing pole) are the forces reduced at all? If the entrance and exit angles of the TIP would be greater than that of a base tie. Could this be helped further still by encompassing multiple limbs within the anchor in order to spread the load? any suggestions would be sweet cheers
  19. That sounds like a brilliant idea! Iv been trying to over come the issue of a retrievable redirect, sounds like you've cracked it! I look forward to seeing your rig. I might have a go at knocking something up myself and trying it out next week. Let me know how you get on!
  20. Not sure about the connection on the back thinking a stein cutaway or possibly a quick draw sling.
  21. I managed to find time today to put it together. See if you can guess who made the case..... Hahaha. I have put 33ft of throwline into it, but its got a hell of a kick when it retracts so I think I could probably run an extra couple of feet into it. The dmm ring was the only thing to hand whilst I was making it, I'll be replacing it with a snap gate crab so it's midline attachable.
  22. Looks interesting, have you used it yet? Let me know how it pans out, I'd be interested to know!
  23. Crikey that's some serious crack.....trees in bad shape too! What's likely to have caused that d'you reckon?
  24. Looks prime! Now they've done that, I am gonna have to seriously consider buying a unicender this weekend.
  25. That's good to hear it runs well. I was more concerned that it would just break the line or the device. But to be honest, part of the reason I am making it like I am is to ensure that the device fails first before unsettling the climber, should something go wrong.
