  1. hi all, possibly a long shot but worth a go, i have a small stock fencing job in ravestone northamptonshire next saturday, i am looking to hire a man with post knocker or tractor and knocker on it's own to knock about 30 posts in. i now i could do it by hand but it's a long way from home so want to do it in a day. access is good as it's deviding a 9 acre field. anyone want a days work or now where i might be able to hire one from. email [email protected] call 07590013370 cheers guys
  2. hi guys am thinking of doing the same thing, i've bought a few things from france and italy all i've ever been asked on the way back over the channel is "is it yours" my reply "yes i've been working in france" and all is well. on another note are there any good websites to look for tractors on the continent? cheers tom

  4. private plates aren't really for me but the best one i have seen was "TO55ER" on a lambo in center parcs car park. had to have a chuckle as i couldn't decide if he was calling himself it or everyone else.
  5. evening all, excuse me if the terminology is wrong, the chainbreak on my husky apears to have engaged itsekf or i didn't disengage it when i took the side plate off and now i can't get the side plate back on. the band is to tight to fit over the fly wheel and i can't disenage it. is there a little trick to it? any pointers greatfully received. thanks tom

  7. i set my posts in rammed home post mix then build the deck in due time the post mix will go off from moisture in the ground or give it a little water whne the job is done to start it going off.
  8. a short wheel base isuzu trooper is the answer, i love mine, cheap toby easy to fix a great owners club forum for help and can tow 3.5 tons and more then capable off road when needed.
  9. i was taught and shown to lean the nose of the bar on the work bench when tightening the side plate nut's.
  10. i am fully aware of the pro's and con's of spraying, pulling, cutting etc we do keep horses. I feel that sparying is the best option at this time. I have considered cutting and collecting but not sure the best way of collecting as i don't have a tractor and hiring one would make the job expensive. There is no way i am pulling a very infested nearly 10 acres by hand. thanks again.

  12. Evening all. hope your all enjoying some lovly weather. I have been asked by a customer to spray some paddocks and other fields full of ragwort. I have the kit a quad and boom sprayer for my own and friends paddock and bits i have never done any for paying customers looking for a bit of advise on the going rate for spraying. do you charge pe acre or hourly rate. Any advice gratefluly receieved. thanks in advance. tom
  13. thanks for all the suggestions, the hedge will be in sandy soil, quite shaded. the soil doesn't look to great it was quite heavily planted will pine tree's being part of thetford forest. I like the look of Griselinia, any suggestions on the best planting mediuum? mushroom compost, standard compost or just some root feed? thanks again tom
  14. Evening all, I've been asked by a customer to plant 40 meters of evergreen hedge. It mustn't be prickerly, laurel or leylandii. Looking for suggestions of species and places to buy (mail order or wholesale) looking for 5 foot high to start. Thanks in advance. tom
  15. i use izusu troopers mainly because they are rated to tow 3-3.5 tons making you legal to tow even the largest of trailers. I'd go for the older 3.1 rather than the 3 liter but thats just me, have a look at Isuzu Trooper Owners Club UK™ :: Index all you need to read on there. done about 250 miles towing three tons today and she's been superb.
  16. a mate of mine got himself a series landrover for his first truck and insured it on classic car insureance and i remember thinking it was cheap, it was last year sometime. worth a look.
  17. Good moring, I am looking to hire a man with a chipper and chip van to chip and take away some conifers i am removing from a job for a new fence. Rather than rent a chipper i thought i'd see what price i could get the job done for.   19. try thurlow nunn standen or agri hire, i knowthey both have a hire range from compacts up they should be able to help
  20. been playing with the welder the last few evenings, made a little grader for my brothers quad track and a pair of stock netting strainer bars for me. just thought i would share.
  21. i wear these for all i do (fencing scrub clearance) and they last a good time, these also do them lined but my hands get so hot i don't need them. Unlined Leather Glove, GL0300, Gloves, Dickies, Overalls, Hi-Vis Jackets, Waterproofs and Safety Boots hope the link works.
  22. the new VW is lovely my father in law has one and is averaging 35+mpg i was looking at getting one but my VW dealer quoted me a year + for delivery.
  23. if you google it there is plenty of info pops up. i beleave it is something to do with the front hubs not disengaging properly something to do with the vac system that engages and disengages them.
  24. i think i'll def be returning it, does anyone think i justified/allowed in charging the dealer for the cost of retrning it? had a couple of quotes for £750+ for the 360 mile delivery. i would trailer it back myself but don't have a truck that i would trust on that sort of trip. thanks for the help guys tom
  25. 150k, i'm a little suspicious as the water pump and thermostat look almost brnad new and the coolent was fesh also, the head cracking was what i was wondering about most if theres as chance think i'll go refund. now just need to haul it 300 miles back!!!!
