  2. sorry i've not read the hole topic, but the graham edwards trailers are worth a look, i have a 14x6 ish triple axle and it is the best railer i have ever had.
  3. there is alot of health and safety stickers all over that beautiful machine, if you need stickers to tell you to be careful you really shouldn't be operating it.
  4. what about an isuzu trooper? with a bit of looking you should be able to get a tidy one for £1200 ish, just avoid the 3.0l ones as i have a dead one on my drive that refuses to run no matter hwat is done to it. when lokking for troopers also lok for vauxhall monterays as the seems to be a few £100 cheaper but are the same truck.
  5. Good morning all, I am on the last stretch of a land based engineering course so that i have a certificate to say i can do what i already can do although i have learnt a few quite interesting things along the way. I have undertaken the course as my agri fencing business had/has slowed down considerably and as i have maintained and repaired my won kit (tractors, digger, chainsaws, quad truck etc) for some time and being as when i first left school i trained and achieved an NQV in motor vehicle repairs thought i had best update my training just in case the worst happens and i have to return to full time employment. My question to you guys and girls is do you use mechanics engineers fitters or whatever you want to call them to service maintain and repair your equipment? how do you use them? Emergencies only all the time? Onsite in you workshop there workshop. This is part of my business management module at college also will help me see where to go after i have finished. Hoping for some useful input cheers guy Tom
  6. afternoon all, As part of my college course land based engineering i am looking for a servie manual for a large pto chipper does anyone know where i could download one or have an electronic copy they could donate to my research. thank you in advance. cheers tom
  7. think i might be tempted to fit some peices to the ram plate to push through the cutter head to make a complete cut oof (hope that makes sence)
  8. i lived in morzine france for 3 years running a lodge, sking/snowboarding winter mountain biking summer best time ever. unfortunatly not going riding this year got a wedding to pay for. can't wait for my kids to start so i can teach them. hope the snow is good for those going have herd from some mates that it's prety good at the mo and should be a good season. Happy sliding whatever you pleasure and safe trip and stick up some pics to make me real jealous
  9. netting first but tend to leave all monkey strainers on untill i am happy with the tension then crimp them all off, i also use a small hand winch the tension netting between bpundary clamps as you get smaller increments of movement as opposed to the inch at a time with chain.
  10. i've used these guys a few times for ratchet straps and strops etc seem really good on price Ratchet Straps, Mini Ratchets & Lashing Systems: Ratchet & Truck Tie Downs & Webbing Slings UK
  11. evening all, i have just been with a customer of mine and he is looking to sell an old steel frame he purchased but has had a change of plan. It is only the steel frame would need roof material and side if required and some plates welded onto the base of the uprights to bolt it down and a rub down and paint or shotblast and paint depending. Hopefully there is a basic plan attached? Just a question any ideas on value and anybody interested? cheers tom
  12. what about something like this, i've done a mates plant trailer with it and works really well unless you want to carry bulk/lose sand or the like Mild Steel - F H Brundle same stuff as you get on steel fire escape stairs
  13. ally would be way better thats what i was supposed to put
  14. steel checker plate over ply is the best flooring for trailers i think, will last for years and takes more abuse than phonolic in my opinion
  15. i've had most brands, wouldn't touck dewalt any more they have dropped in quality, makita are good and worth the money but for me the best impact driver aound is Milwaukee Tools - C18 ID by along way, batteries last an age the mpst torque currently availlable and something like 80% battery charge in 20 mins
  16. that has made my eyes water just thinking about it
  17. i fence on my own and find it quite peace being out in some beautiful places and i can work as late as i like. As for straining up up long lenght of line wire i have recently started using a remote copntrolled winch mounted on a quad so i can walk the line and adjust the wire at the same time. I'll try and find a pic or take one the next time i have it set up.

  20. just saw these on ebay thought some might be interested BRAND NEW Halfords Industrial 6 Drawer Ball Bearing Tool Chest.....BE QUICK | eBay
  21. hi have the clarke contractor cabinets top and base from machine mart top quality and good price.
  22. i don't use postmix way to expensive, i may get shot down for this but have been doing it for years and never a to return to a job, if you dry mix your concrete in a mixer and ram it down in the post hole you can install your fence straight away and the moisture in the ground will set your concrete or if you are worried just sprinkle with water at the end of the day. my timber supplier sells a two part post mix, in the bag you get ballast and a seperate bag of cement messured out just to mix together digging with post shovels normally use 1 bag for every post and a half think it's about £5 a bag.
  23. the pto isn't essential, i was thinking more of a 2.5-3 ton dumper so would probably be just for post knocker and accessing wet boggy ground.
  24. a post knocker to start probably more as we go would then be looking a fitting a pto if poss or another way of powering equipment.
  25. evening all, i am looking at getting a tracked dumper and removing the skip and fitting it with a 3 point linkage, any idea how easy it would be (for an ag engineer) and idea of cost. I looking for something with really low gorund pressure. cheers tom
