I can only go back to the late 70s, in my experience and I worked for one of the biggest tree firms in Bedfordshire , ear muffs were only worn around the mid 80s, no leggings/helmet etc. Most lads came from a farming background and had been using saws from their teens. It wasn't until the late nineties that I had to go on numerous courses for strimmers/chainsaws/mowers , first aid because without the tickets I couldn't quote for work for british waterways. On one course for working at heights, the guy said we musnt use ladders when cutting hedges, it must always be with a cherry picker, when I said you cant get a picker through a 3ft gate, then what? he said I don't know the answer. ?????
  2. It wasn't long ago 70s /80s when we didn't wear any ppe including the basics ear muffs,gloves,helmet, and I honestly cant remember one accident.
  3. If I was the buyer, no way would I pay a penny until I have seen the machine.
  4. That or paypal, but cash on collection is usually best for the buyer.

  7. I read somewhere that most spitfire pilots in the battle of Britain were polish, hence the polish war memorial along the A40

  14. Brilliant pic:thumbup1: imo theres only 2 iconic planes in my lifetime : spitfire & concorde. Ive seen concorde flying but never a spit
  15. I was pretty sure someone put a merlin engine in a rolls once so I googled it . I was right , what a beast
  16. Get it everytime I buy new boots:thumbdown: They seem to fit perfect in the shop.get them home and after a few mins theyre either to tight or to loose:confused1:

  22. Exactly, how things have changed,todays heros are footballers and telly personalitys
  23. After watching the first part of this programme your left thinking, "how lucky am I" all I have to worry about is paying the bills!
