Ive had a hilux in various mk,s since 1990 and wouldn't touch anything else. In my opinion they are worth the extra money as they keep their selling value, as you,ve found out. £5k should get you a very decent mk4 and a half decent mk5

Vertical ,petrol av11. Had it around 18 months, very few pieces of wood it wont split. When I bought it I took some really knotty bits of wood with me and it split them no problem. I think they are selling around £1900 now.

It may be down to what the others "NEED" to earn, i.e secretary/vehicles/rent of yard/rates etc.

Ask them how near was your quote to the others, chances are they havnt had anymore quotes and just had a price in their heads what they were willing to pay
