  1. Well your spot on there mate, i live between luton & bedford and i will only use briants (princess risborough) 2 hour round trip, but they always have what you want & you deal with professionals who know what their talking about.
  2. I sometimes have problems with this site, but mainly i find its ve.....................................
  3. Someone sells them on ebay under "tipper body" , last time i looked they wanted £1200 fitted, i think they keep your old body. Good news for you is it is up north. I thought about buying one but decided on a "loadhauler". there is a post on this product on here, take it from me they are invaluable, i can unload my hilux of logs in roughly 10 seconds.
  4. If you can get £90 per load ,then your sums are right. One thing you have missed, the hard graft to turn 50 tons of cord into 75 loads of logs. Check your local log merchants to make sure you can charge £90. In my area £60-£75 is the going rate.
  5. Almost defiantly yes
  6. Some people have been known to get payment for their wood, but good luck with it mate:thumbup:
  7. Depends on how big your loads are. Heres an example: my hilux load is 1.2cubic metres. Its been said on here that you get 1.5 cubic metres per ton. Is the beech green or seasoned as green is obviously much heavier. £ 50 per ton , is that delivered? If you are new to the game, give this year a miss, get it cheaper later and season it for next year.
  8. HE DID WHAT? And i thought i was stupid with my air gun, at least we would hide behind a wall , peep round, shoot and dive back again. I worked with a lad who decided to make a hand grenade. 10" length of pipe ,banged 1 end over ,drilled a hole, part filled it with "explosive", then baged the other end over, or at least he started to bang it over. lost his thumb & 1st finger. Thanks bomag, just gotta find me blowtorch
  9. Your missing what i said ropetow, i said "it was live" a bloke i was working with served time in the army and removed the powder from it. I think he was a bit nervous after i told him as kids me & my mates used to tie 12 bore cartriges up and shoot at the firing pins with our air rifles, those were the days
  10. Thanks very much for that bomag. Dont suppose it says how it got there?
  11. The bullet is 6" long , diameter is the same as a 1 pound coin. On the firing pin end it reads "ks 43"
  12. This bullet was found by me in a crevice of a horse chestnut tree, it was live and believed to be an anti tank bullet, anyone else found odd or interesting things in trees. Yes i am bored.
  13. Nice frost first thing, by 10 o clock until 3 it has been sunny & dry. Even working in a tshirt. Just hope the snow stays up north:001_tt2:

Give your customers a trial net/bag free, they will appreciate your honesty and you will be confident in selling the rest.
  15. I recently put an advert in a little shop i pass now and again,"log nets £3.00 for 8-10 hardwood logs" cost me £6.00 to advertise, as i walked out i noticed they were selling log nets as well, didnt count the amount of logs ,but they were priced at £9.00 . Next time i pass i will be calling in to see where he placed my ad.
  16. im probably stating the obvious, but are you filing your rakers as well as the teeth, are you checking that the bar is nor burred?
  17. spot on mate! i have got an old broom in my shed which hasnt seen the light of day for years, the handle has a moisture reading of14 per cent. says it all really.
  18. I get mine from ebay, theres loads of sellers , i use mca kingstone. 100 nets for £17.62 + £8.24 postage. size is 18" wide x 24" deep
  19. I was just about to say that.
  20. Hes obviously put the full stop in the wrong place, if your interested in it contact him and ask if you can pick it up, his feedback dosnt suggest he buys or sells anything anything related to arborticulture. Personally i wouldnt touch it.
  21. If its been laying on grass, it will be saturated, but it will soon dry out as long as you keep it off the ground (on pallets etc) . Dont worry about covering it up, if its layed for 2 years it will be well seasoned whatever type of trees they are. However if they are a soft wood , they maybe past their best as they have been laying in a wet field, cut some in half and check as you may be drying rubbish.
  22. Anyone that wants to see the last round, its on youtube.
  23. And i thought all the pykies only lived in bedfordshire
  24. I to have bought one , only took 4 days from sending the cheque off, top man john blevins 01472238382. Havnt fitted it yet as the bed on my hilux is a plastic loadliner & is split in a couple of places , so im going to ply line it to make a smooth running surface, be interested to see how youv converted your bed into a hopper hullsmillfarm.
  25. Does the milkman put your bottles of milk in your fridge, does the postman open your letters & read the contents to you?, i think people look on log merchants the same way as they did the coalman, putting the coal in their bunkers for them. Trouble is , if this guy is going to be a regular you have to tell him it will be extra to lug the bags upstairs, or next load sell him a load of green willow to get rid of him.
