  1. Thats not a canal ,too narrow, but it could be a canal feeder, is there a resevoir nearby? Hang on your based in london where was this pic taken?
  2. Stab in the dark but the canals through london have stop gates here and there in case theres a breach ie ww2 bombing, the flow of the water would close the gates, maybe the pulley in your pic was used to lower and drop a similar setup???

  8. They (cosy logs) must have their reasons as to why they wont supply to local log merchants, if the only reason is that they dont want to help the competition, then skyhucks comment says it all,if the locals dont buy from you they will get it somewhere else.
  9. Exactly as: im on my second home made handle , problem is im usually talking to the customer about the weather etc and put the handle down and forget about it, in the old days kids had their gloves on elastic conected to their coat.............just an idea

  13. I was thinking,whats a convicted rapist doing in an open prison? Just my opinion but i believe all rapsts,paedos should be locked up for life and defiently not in an open prison. just my opinion.

  20. I would think most species of log @ 3"x9" would be ok after 12mths,apart from oak and maybe beech/hornbeam
