Apart from the small gravity feed chippers, drum chippers don't start really until 12" capacity. Not sure what size you are looking at but this may narrow it down. Personally we sell more drum chippers than disc nowadays.

Hi Marc, this is classed as a 15" capacity chipper but it's a Bandit 15". The opening is 17.5x 18.5", it weighs 5 tonne & price is £68995+vat.

Hydraulic drive has come from larger hp machines but is coming down to smaller machines as technology gets better, our 25hp grinder works a treat but we don't fit small pumps and motors
-
I would get use to hydraulic as that's where it will end, only Carlton are dragging their feet and I know they made a hydraulic grinder but it wasn't successful. Bandit now only make a pedestrian belt grinder, the lack of maintenance & downtime outweigh the other options as it is the downtime that costs the money although polychain belts are getting more expensive. Personally we have only had two motor faults to date but they have since been uprated, it is impossible to proportion costs as each manufacturer and the quality of machines are different. I don't know of one customer who would return to a belt machine to date and I've shifted a few.

A few more pictures of the plant showing build, variety of machines on offer, customers who buy in bulk & the millions of pounds worth of equipment kicking around.

It's not so bad

I recently sold a Farmi pto chipper for producing gasification chip, it had to be 35x35 with no fines & no overs. Even machines costing half a million couldn't produce this, with a little tinkering we were able to produce this sample with 10% fines. There were some overs but they increased the sample size a little so there wasn't as many being screened out. The customer also tried a Laimet but it was so violent & stalled his 400hp tractor + there was a lot of waste from the end of every log due to the way it cuts. Until the Farmi came along the boiler manufacturer could not find anything to produce the chip required, the customer won the contract to supply all the boilers.

Is this fact?

That's a 65 (6"), we still offer a 6" chipper if someone wants one but it's not worth pursuing due to the cost against an already crammed market.

If you want to look at a 990 you can but we only have new.
-
Anyone up on their engines, here are a few new ones. Some of the bits strapped on these Tier4 final engines is mind boggling.
-
They are taking delivery of a new shiny one in the next couple of weeks
-
No mate, a couple bigger than that. You can see why you get a 5 yr warranty on discs and drums though
-
We had a wander through the Beast department to see all Four models being built, trailed and tracked, some as shredders and some as chippers.
-
What are the better features?
-
Very impressive Graeme & only the small engine.
-
Today we spent some time at the North Winn facility which is the whole tree chipper production' very impressive bits of kit. With so many different option, engines, models you can see where the money is.
