  2. I used it when I had my old kiwi chip, never caused any problems, used it on every van I have had also.
  3. I have no work for it though thats the problem. it basically sits there all day powering a log splitter , every now and then it will move some ibc cages about. Can this damage the engine?
  4. Gunna run it on fast idle tomorrow, best check oil first
  5. Just spoke to a bloke who was a fitter for David Brown back in the day and apparently its a common thing when the tractor is not been worked hard.
  6. My 990 Implematic has started blowing oil out of the top of the exhaust manifold. It has been stood stationary on a medium idle speed while powering a hydraulic log splitter. any ideas?
  7. Think i will give em a whirl

  10. If you work on that basis unless I actully see prof of id then how could you guarantee that a this person is who they say they are and b their address is legit. If it came down to it then I would stand up in court and explain the situation I have voicemails & texts confirming the work and date. I am sure their is a million people who have been done before no matter how much paper work you have to substantiate what you have and have not done. Just because you don't have anything in writing does not mean the case will fall apart as you still have entered into a verbal contract, true signatures if are not forged back you up to some extent . It is down to the judge in small claims to listen to both sides and come to a dession on who is the victim. I agree in what you say however people who set out to do somebody out of money don't give 2 shi*s about what they agree to verbally or on paper.
  11. Somebody wrote about a telemarketing scam on here a while ago, a week later the same phone call came my way, the same con that was on here. A heads up is always nice
  12. mmmmm post puller...sounds good when your ragging concrete fence posts by hand
  13. Is their an attachment you cant get for an Avant
  14. I never said he seemed to be a traveler with a yorkshire accent, i said the lad i spoke to on site did have a yorkshire accent but the bloke who rang a week later definitely was not from around here. We didn't work a weekend it was 4 hours we spent on site, if you feel the need to take the pi*s out of a lad for trying to make a living then feel free, the system you use seems bullet prof so you will never end up in this situation, maybe Lets just agree to disagree, i didn't start this thread to get into a shouting match we both have our own opinions
  15. The land owner doesn't know that in essence he contracted the work out to me, top and bottom is he fooled me, just glad it has backfired on them before they took payment. I do feel i should try and find the property owner to explain my side of the story.
  16. Everyone will have their own opinion on this subject, same as others, but its not until you end up in a similar situation that you will feel the same way as i did! we are an honest firm who work to a high standard, we put in a good days graft and always do our best to ensure the job is done right and the customer is happy. I treat him with the same respect as everyone else, so why do we deserve to be trampled over and made to look bad! i am not getting on at every traveler out there but when you find them abusing you on jobs, swerving in your lane while driving, looking in the van while your working, walking around your front garden at night looking for stuff to lift and nicking the field gate off your yard i am hardly going to be a big fan! i am yet to meet an honest 1!
  17. Sorry but i do not agree at all, the address he gave and number, i did not feel the need to authenticate these as the lad seemed 100% genuine, its not until things came to light that i found out these were false. Do you question every customer you deal with check their address, registration number etc. I turned up to quote for a job i thought was genuine, we carried out the work that was agreed on the site meeting to the letter, there is only so much you can do falling short of asking for id! i never asked to work for free nor to spend all week worrying about being ripped off! i totally agree with the signature this is something i will be changing. The accusations i am making are real, not some made up pap. i am not trying to upset honest hard working folk what ever their colour, race or background, I am simply pointing out the situation i am in in the hope that others wont be as trusting as i was.
  18. Maybe you should read what i wrote before passing comment
  19. all of the above was done! The only thing i didn't get was a signature as he told me he worked away through the week. I am not tarring all traveling folk as scum at all! However these ones in particular genuinely are, i am yet to meet an honest 1! I also think that taking registrations it a bit extreme, why would i question if he is the property owner when he clearly and convincingly says he is.
  20. Because the person i originally met was just a front man, he sounded as Yorkshire as me! The bloke who rang a week later was clearly Irish! He even claimed another company had said they would put it right for 100quid! Utter rubbish as the other firm was run by a m8 of mine who had never seen the job. You live and learn, sure everyone has been stung at some point, just hope others will also learn from this too.
  21. I agree there was stuff I questioned but once on site it all made sense, house hard to find so meet in layby right outside the property, house is flooded hence why nobody is in, he even had the nerve to walk me around the house, saying they had had it 2 years before it flooded etc, very convincing. It's not until the fake property owner rang me did it become clear what was going on.
  22. I would like to share a very recent bad experience we have had involving some traveling scum!!! Got a phone call a few weeks ago to look at some tree work, yes no problem I said what's your address? Oh erm it's...do u know where the layby is down so & so road...yes I do...meet me there! I thought it seemed strange but when I got there the house was down a single track road off this layby, I just thought he asked to meet there because it was easier to find. Meets this lad mid 20s tells me what he wants doing, I voiced my concerns and eventually come up with a solution. He told me it was his house and he wasn't living there as it had been flooded, he even walked around the outside of the house and pointed through the windows to show me the water damage. Gave my price and left it with him. A week later he rings up, can you do the job? Yes no problem, gave a date and time he agreed. Turned up rang just to confirm the work, he text me back and said yes crack on! I had quoted to crown lift these confers for vehicle access to 10', 3 hours in he text me saying do u mean they will be 10' tall when your finished? No...as agreed they are to be crown lifted on 1 side for access. rang him and said we had nearly done as his wife was to come and pay us, oh erm I don finish work while 8 u will have to collect payment then! 7 days later he had bloked my number & wouldn't answer calls / texts! Someone finally rang today claiming to be the property owner and we had ruined his trees but he would only pay me if I returned and reduced the height for another £100!!! 2 days work extra! Turns out the lad I spoke who claimed to live there had flyerd the real customer, real customer rang him got him to quote, he rang me knowing the house wasn't lived in, got me to quote him pretending house was his, we did the work discussed that unbeknown to me the real house owner had not agreed to, the scum bag then got his friend to contact me pretending to be the property owner wanting me to put the work right so I assume they can get paid then disappear while doing nothing, and letting us do all the work!!! All an elaborate scam to make money off of us an honest firm! I cannot believe the lengths people go to especially the traveling scum to extract money out of unsuspecting people. Don't trust anyone, always question their actions if your unsure! Luckily it was a piss easy job and only cost me £110 in costs! Could have been a lot worse
  23. Does this have as much clout as a solicitors letter? I have a customer who has closed all lines of communication after we completed the work outlined, I spoke to a solicitor this week he says wait until my payment period is up, then write a formal letter if no joy a solicitors letter then small claims court! Who had actually gone down the small claims court route?
  24. There is loads of tractors that are clearly fraudulent! some of them that ebay can be bothered to take down just re appear a few days later under a different profile! i have reported loads but have gave up as ebay just doesn't give a sh*t
  25. I have a lad who has blocked my number and is refusing to answer numerous calls, emails, texts! we completed the work on Monday and have not heared a thing! my payment terms are 7 days, then its formal letter time, after that solicitors letter then small claims! this is the first time this has happened to us, i know its only a week but he has no intention of paying what is owed! after a call to a solicitor i now know i have options out there. Some people are complete morons!
