jeepers! not good,,,thats why I put some time into my yard this yr, tons of brick rubble and concrete,then 6 artics of crushed on top,surface gets muddy ,but no longer get the vans stuck...yours doesnt look much fun!

problem Ive had trying to resaw air dried timber alec,is that its obviously dried with some movement,and when put back on the mill its never going to cut them accuratetly again,unless I plane one side flat first,then I lose the thickness! mainly oak to be fair,the yew etc works fine,

they do various size mills, the newest being 1030 - a 10" mill, but this takes a 6.1 mm kerf,compared to the 5.7 on the 810 model, the engine is bigger obviously, and might be ideal for your bigger dimensions. i cut a load of 6x6 in the sequioa and it managed it easy, but with oak i made two passing cuts,doing 3" at a time,to allow the blade to clear the sawdust. you`d need to rig up something to hold the log,especially on smaller timber,as the last few cuts it can roll, or mill off a flat and flip it so its sat on the flat bottom. there a great bit of kit! in three days ive enough to keep me going for yrs!

I think for what you need steve,it would be perfect, so fast of softwoods,and can be a one man operation,although handy to have some one taking the boards off as you go! it cuts as fast as you can walk!and very economical, like the way you sharpen the teeth easily, just clips onto the battery, trouble is second hand they just dont exsist!.

hi thanks for comments, was happy with walnut, and still loads left to mill as its just too wet in the garden at mo, the mizer needed some love and attention, shes an 89 model and some things had worn,although it is a new engine, . the belt was tightened, guides tightened,and aligned, and the main drive chain lubed,along with the guide rail!(thanks john). cut some wide yew yesterday and she didnt like it,rock hard it was, with a little waver,but nothing the wadkin planner wont take out in a couple of yrs.

some other random pics,,,load of birch waiting to be made into bird boxes, kiwi,splitting logs on the riko av11 ,bit of seuioa being milled into 2" planks for picnic benches, and my trip home through the floods.

now we also got milled the 26 ton of sequoia and some random yew butts, this would usually have taken me months but the rain has helped me sort it out, took four of us using a lucas mill,and a woodmizer lt40(now working a treat!)three days.

so here is just the branch wood milled,two main sections of trunk and root left,as ground too wet.

was a bit of a drag,but arb trolley came up trumps, couldnt believe it when hit concrete 30ft up? bummer,just sharpened the 066 up as well,

hi ,all my tree work has been rained off due to rivers bursting the banks,so spent three days milling, got every butt done! loads of sequoia,yew,and a lovely walnut. will post the walnut first,this tree wasnt 300yrd from my yard and got it for nothing in exchange for removing it, the main but is still there as my 088 decided to give up, but the branch wood is stunning!

thats excatly how I make them alec, forgot too mention the plate thing, its how I make the tines for the occassional hay rake I make too. -

wack them in the airing cupboard for a few days they will lose moisture quickly,then finnish to true size needed! I dry all my chair stretchers this way. -

as it happens,i spent 5 yrs dealing with people littering, fly tipping and deciding to dump stuff in the countryside, I have the utter most disrespect for these selfish people! there are public tips available,yes they cost, but if you have any business savy, then you add this cost too the job, or you pay rent and have a yard! there is no excuse for fly tipping.full stop, apart from trying to save money. I`m glad you`ve seen the light and moved on, but rest asure I cant drive A mile from my yard with out seeing it,makes my blood boil!
