  1. Does anyone rate the Vio pov hd cam ?
  2. £4000 is well cheap for a 6 inch diesel chipper I had a 2001 tw125 not a problem in 2-3 years exactly the same machines bar the engine and covers brought a brand new one in 2011 again not missed a beat. The older one was over 10 years old and I got a similar price for it because they are worth there weight in gold. Just test bearings when purchasing stick a long screwdriver on the four large bolts and stick your ear to it listen you will know a crap bearing. Also check all blades are intact, I'd snap that up if its in good condition. For the money they are unbeatable and a monkey could fix one
  3. New video, check my you tube channel to see the other new ones aswell Nothing beats the fun of a clear fell
  4. Of course mate will do
  5. Thanks mate same for you
  6. Morning lads right works slack this week so coffee and iPad time. We now have a twitter account and would like to connect with as many like minded people as possible. https://twitter.com/thtreeservice If you like linked in we're there to T.H Tree Services (Essex) - United Kingdom | LinkedIn And google plus of course https://plus.google.com/app/basic/101766835141456161637/about/n?cbp=1fw4kiq5mh6rz Best luck for the new year, must admit its a little slow but to be expected I guess
  7. Nice page and some seriously tempting kit
  8. To many chiefs not enough Indians !
  9. While I agree with training I find this system over expensive and its just not that great, a simple three tier system with beginner intermediate and advance arborist would be so much better but I suspect less profitable I find it hilarious that there is a qualification for a pole pruner, there are just to many and that puts people off, calculate the total cost of every course which is not legally enforced and I'd guess 1/3 to half of established company's dont have many or any qualification, I'm for ever competing with people that are not qualified so I'm at a financial disadvantage. If the AA or NPTC were worth the expense why not lobby the government and make it law to be NPTC qualified like a corgi gas engineer ?. Again the status quo will remain and those of us that try to do every course will just be throwing money away, we do tree work that far exceeds all of the units so they offer no benefit to me other than another expense which my competition won't bother with. Just my view
  10. Do your customers ?. Do they know what the AA logo even is ?. It won't set you apart it will mean you have an extra logo on your truck reputation will set you apart. I guess my point if I had one was there are better options available depending on what you do and for 99% of the companies I know being AA approved would matter very little to zero. What we should be asking is what can the AA do for the company or arborist, what real benefits are there ?.
  11. Appreciate your response I'm trading standards approved which does police background checks,insurance,qualifications,10 random recent customers independently asked to provide a review, conform to the sale of goods and services act, and many other things which ensure the customer receives a good service a fair price and they can take action should I not perform my job as stated in the quote. Here's more info it may be useful T.H. Tree Services Local Authority & Trading Standards Approved | Essex Tree Surgeon I have seen AA approved company's and its amazing would you believe when the AA inspector is no longer there standards drop just a tad, but of course this is just my own experience But my point was not to offend or negatively criticise the AA, just highlight clear and fundamental faults which affect its usefulness, ie you may be the best of the best but if you wave in the dark it won't do much
  12. No, I have never herd of the aa anywhere but on arbtalk, never seen an ad publication nothing, does it still exist Not one of my customers would know of it or care ! I won't be able to charge more by being apart of it, but it will cost me a yearly fee so ill be negative in the pocket. As a small business I promote my quality and prices direct to my customers, I provide as much information for them as needed far more than any association will ever do for me and its free. No one can guarantee a good company that's why you build a reputation The uk economy is still sliding down, overheads must be kept to only what is essential, this is not essential. But if they really represented the interests of the industry (including us little guys) with legislation that is fair then it has its place.
  13. Was watching the sky at night only few days ago, thought my god he is still going strong. Lost a unique character
  14. Thanks lads recipd all with links got some decent pics i cycle them on the cover page, should get some wicked snow pics this year again thanks for all the help lads the more of us networked can only be a good thing for sharing what we do advice etc. But im off to the pub so cant be late for that
  15. If its raining before we leave depending on the type of work I will rebook, my prices just don't work with rain. I expect the rain slows a job down by at least 25%, that's going to eat into profit on already tight margins. Ppe and kit get soaked and ropes are crap to climb on for days sometimes don't have time to dry it out, in this cold weather being wet can make you ill. But the biggest factor, I just don't need the money that bad, had a few slips on wet trees and your only one hit away from the end of a career. Stay safe dont let your boss's force you to do work your not comfortable with, if you injure yourself that's it for you, I never ask my guys to do something I won't do or that could increase the risk of injury. But the views you get on snowy days are superb
