  1. lol well put, I don't mind someone knocking my methods but calling me a cowboy is just mean !
  2. after several digs I tend to get on a defensive but as soon as the tone changes so do but fair point mate
  3. I will buddy anyone remotely successful will have haters lol. Lets be honest this is one of the most active threads 6000 plus views Im sure ill put a perfect video up but someone will moan about the colour of my lowering rope or its too sunny
  4. call me what you want, are you telling me every job you work to best practice ! I smell a dirty lie. rip cuts are fine the fact most everyone agrees shows what little you actually know about the job, if you have not been taught it you can't do it, where as I can improvise and use common sense. I SMELL A JOBSWORTHS
  5. Maybe the tree surgeon was taking his own rubbish to the tip
  6. Spot on comment mr b we may not agree on much but finally, the reason i used just a back cut was because the branch was to thin to spike safely to windy to try and hang on, and a gob cut would have snapped out to fast eucalyptus branches have strong bark that tear nice and slow therefore giving me plenty of time to gauge exactly where the branch would go and limit the stretch in the rope. It worked perfectly the branch went exactly where i wanted what more can you ask !the tree came down exactly as i intended safe and efficiently. And by the way that is not my understanding at all just clearly pointing out that the so called best standards are limiting at best, as you say the environment dictates the method. I do my firm credit in providing an affordable, fast as well as safe service doing trees that there is no training for, with no damage or injury again as ive said. Knock my methods all you want but ill be working in half the time charging half the price, and doing it safe. My customers moan often of the extortionate prices some company's try and charge perhaps you are one of them
  7. Because i was climbing before i started my company abit obvious ! you take your time ill take the job its all good to me cs41 does not teach you to rig over houses and garages your in a bloody wooded area on a pole don't make me laugh ! do you mean do i know how much a piece of timber increases in weight the further it falls and the swl of equipment yes sir i do as i said i have done the courses I find its easy to sound cocky when you have no video but im sure you could go make one and make a point of doing it step by step. And id say the ZZ 100%
  8. and ill shout hypocrit and yehaa for you to
  9. confidence mate not arrogance, how can you expect people to believe in your abilities if you don't yourself ?.
  10. A fair point but who's best practice, can you show me the document on that for felling over garages and roofs and fences I have not seen the nptc cert for this yet are you trained ? what course that didn't take an hour to qualified have you done that would make you an expert for dismantling over said objects. Please don't think that as a dig but I have done the nptc courses I have a copy of bs3998 2010 and from 10 years of doing this nothing but on the job experience taught me the ability to do it. you can do 6 courses and be classed qualified to best practice and still be dangerous slow and sloppy and incompetent. Im not a sheep I don't need to follow someone else's idea of right I know what works very well for me, and there must be a reason I'm always very busy in work with no injury and damages ever caused. People with extensive qualifications are always sending my company cv,s. they have no work. chew on that
  11. Appreciate that mate, you know what tree surgeons are like ! love to bitch I'm left handed so technically saws are right handed ? I better stick to gardening next week I got a lovey great tree to fell ill be using the spikes, the bollard, and all manor of lowering gadgetry, might even use two hands on the saw So subscribe to my channel guys to check it out gonna make this one by the book
  12. Appreciate that mate i have watched some of your channel well done on the views i like your climbing but similar its not how i would do it. But same to you looks like you have a cool little biz running . The only time id say someone's climbing is bad is if they injured themselves, someone or something otherwise criticism is just ignorant people trying to force their way of doing things onto others and that's not abit of me. I have seen some climbers with tickets galore get pinned against trees for using to many ropes and overdoing it. I also know of some of the most qualified companies tree surgeons falling out of trees cutting there life lines, no one in my company has ever had an injury an i will strive to maintain that. But its all good chaps without discussion we learn nothing !
  13. I don't bob lol they always wear their helmets it was a joke now and again a lid will fall off and they may take 5 minutes to put it back on that should cover that I always use spikes very well to, ill post a vid soon but if I don't need them I won't use them because there are an added danger IMO. I just like climbing more without them I fatigue less all personal tho. I can understand some of the points, but some are sad that people think in a type of way, re cs41 what part of the course taught you to remove trees growing through power and phone lines and what part taught you about lowering across roofs and garages and conservators because they never taught me that only blocking down a piddle of a tree ?. I use all methods and combine to get the job done safe and we have in stock the best equipment available but sometimes all you need is the simple stuff no need to over complicate little jobs. Might I ad I undertake trees that other tree surgeons turn down and have a complete success rate, it can't all be luck I may have a unique method but I'm sure they are no qualifications for lowering over said objects its an on the job experience and I have 10 solid years of that vs the hour or so cs41 course with the three days training. But rather than get my back up I like the discussion this post has generated, some have defended me thanks boys some have IMO talked a lot of Bollox but we can all agree we all have different ways of doing things and we all think ours is the best ! :001_tt2::001_tt2:
  14. I dont use a lowering device to lower 50kg pieces when a pully and groundsmen is more than adequete, regarding the limb that i allowed to snap is simple to dangerous to spike in the wind, to two ropes and a slow back cut ensured a precise result. regarding using the tree when you dont have a high anchor availible any where near the limb how would you do it ?. never have a damaged anything ill be the tree surgeon earning money you drive past becuase you have no work lmao. of course we used the roof the limbs could not be lowered past without hitting the roof. what do you mean ladders haha sorry how you and your spikes get you over a garage o you fly. i expect this bollox on arbtalk now, alot of talkers !. i dont have accidents, never broken a thing every customer i have ever has is always very happy i always get paid ill always win work over muppets k sara ! use of rigging knots haha half hitch and a steel krab what are you on with a 3 ton pulley ?. while your setting up over kill i get the job end of !.
  15. A small fell using rigging and utilising the tree, please have a look enjoy, i welcome the abuse that may come lol but its also useful finding out others ways of doing the same work since i can incorporate it into my own style of climbing and hopefully others have learnt a few clever ways i do stuff Subscribe to my channel to get auto updates of what we do
  16. Quality vid mate what did you use to edit like that
  17. Good vid the yank is funny if he moved the rock classic move
  18. Using the haix extremes better then aqua fells, and Ellen's. On titanium Buckinghamshire with Velcro wraps but I do have little feet
  19. Lol ill risk a stub in the rib rather than a spike in the leg
  20. You could trap a nerve damage blood vessels permanently, the more use the more damage, I'm sure you have had very achy feet after an hour in spikes there's a reason why were not built to put that much pressure on such a small part of our feet the arch is not meant to hold our entire weight, its meant to aid spreading it across the foot. Read up on google about the arch of the foot I promise if you use spikes your arches have ached a lot. But that's just one reason I limit the use of spikes.
  21. Two spikes, which with an unfortunate slip can puncture your calfs ?. damage the arch of your feet causing arthritis, cutting off blood circulation, increase loading at the knees, create pin point pressure on your feet which is why you need to move the weight from side to side, increase the rate of fatigue, standing on a stub reduces these strains considerably I do use spikes but like I've said as a last resort due to the damage they do the your body and the trees. I hope that's enlightened you abit.
  22. Hydrogen and oxygen mate ! what do you call it ?.
  23. Not sure who is at college but its not me maybe many years ago. Were all critiquing each other, but what works for one won't work for another, my opinion on spikes is they are dangerous and should only be used when no other means are available, I think excessive use of spikes is bad practice but that's just my opinion. And I use a petzl grillion secondary line with a steel core strop for spiking, but in such a small tree the grillion was not aiding me and at 10ft high my main line was more than enough
  24. Mr B i intend it all as fun, and i can piss unusually high being a tree climber so have laugh my anglo/american friend !
  25. Hi 3-6 months to come back after allowing the ground to settle straight from the SE:) and forgive the term pollard many organisations list this type of work differently i dont think your being pedantic more informative. Regarding helmets ill make em suck it up and stick it on for future videos, and another point to my college pointing out about using our gopro, because of this toy i am learning other peoples opinions on my climbing and don't think im not learning
