Would've done anyway, still goes in my other saws, just would've been a bugger to carry a can of two stroke just for one saw!

Did you try this method omt? Been playing with similar this week, but with the uni instead of Hh. Best I've found so far though is a hand ascender with footloop, and a chest tape with a snap on. the ascender I leave on line if just stopping for a little job, then continue up the tree. Once I'm properly in the canopy I'll dispose of it somewhere, either tie it up near the tip or stick it on my back for later.

No, it's around the middle of the building with timber all round it, should be plenty of air in there (draughty) and there's also a de humidifier in there, for a different purpose

So I phoned the dealer and was told the problem seemed to be that individual saw and aspen. It's been fixed and re sold. I ended up being brave and put aspen into the new 576 earlier this week. It seemed a bit down on power for the first couple of tanks then picked up to normal running. I'm chuffed, I much prefer running aspen on the floor:D

Tbh Daniel, I enjoy most of your videos, it's just a shame that whenever you post them on here, people jump on them and slate you. This cut is something I have used several times, it does work and is potentially much quicker than other options available. I don't however share these techniques with other people due to the level of unpredictability involved. I also make sure anyone else on site is well away from me before trying. If I get hurt it's my own fault. We all know you can do your job, though perhaps in a different fashion than many people on here would choose. Perhaps these things are best kept in the experienced cutters head and not published for God knows who to read?

I would say yes, as long as it's srtwp, firing them up on ascenders only without additional knowledge could go very wrong. But I think they would also need to learn ddrt along the way, no point limiting them to one thing only

Alternate which direction you wrap it on the capstan and if you bundle rather than flake for storage, don't coil it into loops, let it naturally twist to an 8 shape. Braided ropes don't like that, whereas 3 stand does

Could have been air, the plug wasn't particularly wet after trying to start it. I'll let you know when I've spoken to the dealer

I have a good dealer locally who came out that week, picked the crocked one up, dropped off the new one. I haven't heard anything about what problems it had, I'll try to find out and let you know:thumbup: It would be strange for it to be caused by the fuel but apparently it had run fine on the dealer's two stroke the day before I had it:confused:

I did try one on aspen straight from the dealer. Drained the fuel they'd put in to set it up, filled with fresh, then couldn't get anything it of it. Would barely tick over, then wouldn't pick up, then ended up with a stupidly fast idle, followed by complete death. The saw was replaced but I'm a bit scared to try on this one incase it happens again:confused:

As the title says... I've heard it might be one of "those" saws that don't like aspen. Any experiences? I currently run my 395 on aspen and would like to transfer the whole fleet onto it but want to be sure I'm not going to cause problems. Cheers
