  1. I think that's the one that got carved into a hand. There's a plaque there about it
  2. Fair enough. It's worth the drive if you get the chance. From betws direction, take the devil's pass to vrynwy brilliant road to drive. Just make sure you've got decent brakes
  3. There will be a couple of arb dealers and a selection of rural craft stands. Then there's several hundred other stands as part of the main game and country fair
  4. Are you satisfied with the life you're living? Bob Marley
  5. Historically, SRT refers to one length of rope, which is hung in a single leg style. The double rope with a hitch round both legs is also a stationary setup, but referred to as double rope technique, and used primarily for access. The third configuration, is doubled rope technique, two legs but both sides move at a bight point. This is supposedly now dynamic rope technique according to some people. I don't see why we need to change the names when they've worked fine for decades before arbs started thinking they'd created something new by moving in both directions on srt.
  6. North west of the car park, sorry
  7. If you get to Lake Vrynwy, find the hand that Simon O'Rourke carved. There's a couple of Douglas firs next to it that are only a man's length off 200' It's on the north side, just to the north east of a little car park/pull in place
  8. Really? He couldn't possibly have had an accident because he already had a skinful of gin?
  9. Best of luck, let us know how you get on
  10. No, as long as you're physically up to climbing and have a good trainer, you'll be fine
  11. Bring your bulldog Rich. That's not a euphemism
  12. I'd imagine there will be on Sunday. Remember the competition is open to and entered by people of all abilities.
  13. Trade stand booking is underway. If anyone is interested in a trade stand, contact me on 07789 950455, or email [email protected]. For those who know the site, we've got space in the main barn this year - prime space for showcasing your company.
  14. I agree, this is definitely not a subject covered in trailer training or testing
  15. Anyone without Facebook who wants an entry form, download this and post or email it back to the address on the form
  16. We're not like that Joe, you're welcome to wear your spikes.......on the pole climb. Come and compete
  17. Cheers fellas, hope to see you all there this year
  18. It's getting towards that time of year again and for our tenth anniversary we're planning to be bigger than ever before. We've got all the old favourites and more... As usual, the East of England Cutters and Climbers Competition is being held on the 25th & 26th April at the East Anglian Game and Country Fair. Game & Country Fair, Norfolk Showground, 25th & 26th April 2015 This year, in our usual style we've added and changed a few things around. Running throughout the weekend will be the usual events; Work Climb Felling Competition Pole Climb MEWP Competition Balance Beam.....with a twist...... (Always a highlight!) After last year's success we're running the SRT work climb competition, hopefully there'll be even more entrants with the rise in popularity of SRT over the last 12 months. Last year saw the start of a speed log splitting and throwline events, there are a few more top secret new features in the pipeline. The events will be staged over the two days so you'll need to be there for both. Camping is free on site, with evening entertainment and BBQ planned for Saturday evening. Alex will running his workshop on the Saturday evening, though I'm not sure of the topic yet, it's always worth going to, you're certain to learn a few things. There's always a raft of prizes for the various disciplines and the overall winners. You may even win the coveted "Most Employable Person". Entry for the weekend's events is £20, enrolment forms are available on the Facebook page; https://www.facebook.com/pages/East-of-England-Cutters-and-Climbers-Competition/394739513952567 There are still a few trade stand spaces available, get in touch with me for more info - [email protected] or visit the Facebook page. Banners can be displayed for advertising in the main arena, £3 per foot. If you haven't been before it's a great event, friendly people and a fantastic chance to network within the industry. Each year we're bringing in people from further afield, so don't think this is a "locals only" event. There are already two confirmed entrants from Cumbria!
  19. Very sad. Truly inspirational man.
  20. I was on the beach at dawn with my dog this morning. Took some effort to get up and drive, but it was worth it
  21. Gave my chassis a wash today. Can you tell I've got farmer blood in me?
  22. You could have done I wasn't having a go at you, more an observation of the pedantry that goes on. Ftr, I don't like bad spelling and grammar, but in a written medium a lot would be missed if you ignored or dismissed every poorly spelt or wrongly worded post.
  23. I thought this was the thread to be picky? "Latin names" irritates me.
  24. Is it Latin though? Surely it's it's botanical name. Taxonomy uses words derived from multiple languages, though I'll admit Latin is a large part of Linnean nomenclature.
