  1. I got a quote of £2600 for any driver on an additional L200. London postcodes bump it up buts its crazy money.
  2. I have 3 vehicles so perhaps don't qualify for proper fleet insurance.
  3. Any good companies for multi van, any driver policies? I have looked about before but I seem to end up at the same brokers just trading under multiple names.
  4. When I was on the hunt for a mini digger I started off with a 6-7k budget but found in that price range there was just too much junk. Everything was 10 year old, thousands of hours amd battered. I upped my budget to 10k and was able to look at 3 year old, 500 hour, like new models. I reckon it is well worth spending the extra. In 3 years I think it'll still be worth £8k-9k.
  5. You got to admire the balls these guys have (nothing else though!). Even a batty DIYer in the UK would think twice about a tree that size.
  6. Greenplant Guildford have multione on the hire fleet now.
  7. Would you be able to fork them onto a HGV?
  8. Interesting thanks. I do don't fencing and not looking to get into it but banging in lots of tree stakes in a short amount of time would be a slight cost saver but a huge body saver (which as a I get older is often more important).
  9. Not to side track but have you used a 100kg / 1.5tonner post ram set up? Be interested to hear if its any use. Obviously not big strainers but i did wonder about one for 65mm tree stakes. I have my mini digger with an auger torque auger and have found this very useful for planting standards (i think we discussed the auger before i bought it / i deleted my inbox) but i wondered about partnering it with a small post ram. I only have to do 60 posts in a day roughly but I've found doing them by hand held ram is a right work out and drilling pilot holes with the auger was too much faffing around.
  10. What is the issue for road use? Let down by the topspeedo or too long to get to it? My little agt is road registered as i have several sites within a Km of each other so i am well used to slow tractors ( i was overtaken by a primary school kid on a push bike not long ago). For a full size i will be doing a few 3 or 4 mile trips.
  11. I always take Sundays off. Working 7 days a week will do you in.
  12. Around 80hp - 110bhp, what size linkage would it be, 2 or 3?
  13. Nimble isn't necessary - happy to plod along. Simple is definitely key. I'd like a chance of fixing it myself if it goes wrong.
  14. This is why I hate ebay. Even if a item is 'won' it's a total gamble as to whether someone will contact you/pay.
  15. Is this the 5 minute arguement or the full half hour?
  16. I don't know specifically but my 2 cents - black smoke is usually bad air to fuel ratio so you are looking at injectors, turbo charger, fuel pump, egr valve etc. If it stalled and won't restart I'd probably say it's not the turbo but more likely the fueling. Id expect a bad turbo to run at idle. I'd replace the fuel filter, ptime it then pull the battery for 30 minutes and hope for the best! After that it's off to the local mechanic.
  17. Plus dragging the chipper would be a lot harder.
  18. Agreed about covering up. In fairness though it is just showing up areas that you were previously getting 'herbicided'!
  19. Sounds interesting. A removable chamber that you don't need to open could work. Opening a chamber when it's hot is a real risk. If 100 litres of charcoal ignites you won't be getting within a 5 metres of it!
  20. I misread that as 5 burns a week. Is 5 burns a say possible? I have to let my retort cool down for atleast 16 hours after its opening. Much larger but can't see how you could get the kiln/unit to temperature for conversion, then get it cool enough to empty when to go again in only couple of hours.
  21. Would be ok for a bit of a hobby. Cant see any way of it being commercial. I've found charcoal only become genuinely financially viable in large volumes.
  22. Cut it down is only if you've left it too late and its going to seed.
  23. I tried a few things to no avail. Just bought so of this for big knotweed jobs. https://www.pitchcare.com/shop/spray-dyes-and-bout-markers/precision-blue-spray-pattern-indicator.html?utm_source=google&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=google_shopping&pcode=180INDIC050&telx=01902-440268&gclid=Cj0KEQjwnv27BRCmuZqMg_Ddmt0BEiQAgeY1l9Lj2HSvYr042W5PECiE_2ShoR2-r2d45zVz11JxqR0aAu738P8HAQ
  24. Its a minefield. Insurances/HSE - how do you prove maintenance, etc. Saw isn't working, do you not pay the employee for the day? Not legal. Saw gets stolen ftom a job, who pays? Personally if my employees were abusing my tools then they wouldn't continue to be my employees.
  25. I think you're right. Pickups in the UK market are seemingly aimed at business customer who primarily use the vehicle for personal use (for tax reasons no doubt). How many double cabs do you see compared to single cabs? I'd say it must be 20 doubles to one. How many pickups are on all terrains/mud terrains compared to 18" alloys.... Sweeping generalisation but I'd say it is fairly valid. The challenge there is your average user is more interested in leather seats, higher and more comfortable cruise speeds, looks. Commercial users like many of us look for low end power of towing, tow capacity, GTW, etc. Personnaly I feel the big players have missed a trick by not having 7t GTW. A 1000-1250kg payload and a 3500kg tow weight would be a massive advantage.
