  1. Have you bought any powder recently? Prices have jumped by upto 50% a kg PPU in .223 56gr is £36/100 and is pretty consistant out to 600yds, its difficult to handload for cheaper. As for the rimmie, on a still day off sticks with a 2 1/2 mildot holdover, clean kills on 140yd rabbits using Eley+ subs
  2. Only when they are at places like Bentley!!!!!! No, but I dont like to put them in the kennels at the weekend, they are pets as well as working dogs.
  3. Looks good, but no dogs rule makes it difficult for some of us.
  4. Thought it was about time a put a few up of my old Landie. Series 2a 88" Full ARC rollcage Complete chassis overplated to increase rigidity Rear crossmember modified to increase departure angle and strengthened for snatch recovery 3.5 V8 s3 gearbox and axles Range Rover diffs Cut down hardtop with polycarbonate rear window TI Console parabolics Explorer shocks TI Console front disc brake conversion Custom ali fuel tank in the bed Plus a host of other mods that I struggle to remember!!!
  5. Gutted to hear this mate. Nothing seems to be sacred anymore But, what made you think he was gay? Was it the way he ran?
  6. Lucky him, I would love to know how he managed it. Im on jobseekers, and I had to pay for my own PPE, course and assessments, but that maybe because Ive not been claiming for a year and Im NOT under 25. We dont go down the pub, rarely go out and eat what I shoot to keep bills down, but I still have a mortgage to pay, amongst other household bills. As for the OP, get your tickets, you wont get anywhere in this game without them. Follow-up every ad, and dont loose heart, you will get there in the end.
  7. No problem, but does explain where my reply to a thread went. I thought I was going mad!!!!!!
  8. Revise everything on the assessment, questions are random and asked during and after. Chain sharpening should be spot on. Nice one Bobby on passing, I passed mine last week and totally and utterly screwed up my 31, nerves got to me I will be retaking it, but feel I need more "saw time" before I do.
  9. But the OP said he was an experienced groundie with 2+ years experience, this doesnt strike me as being in training or being under 18, but I could well be wrong.
  10. Maybe, but the cost of living was much lower too. Employers who ask what an employee wants are hedging their bets and hoping the employee will come up with a figure lower than what they are willing to pay. Why not just say what you, as an employer, are willing to pay and if the employee isnt happy with it they will either say its too low or decline the offer of work It also think its dependant of location, house prices are lower in some parts of the country than others (the girlfriend is struggling to sell her 3 bed, detached house in mid-wales for £174k, whilst you will need at least £250k for a 3 bed semi in Surrey) food and fuel prices vary depending on where you live too. In short, its not a one size fits all wage structure, and it never will be.
  11. Merrist Wood are doing 38 soon, dont know if theyre also doing 39
  12. Awesome bluegrass band, seen them a few times but theyre not really doing any decent venues around here this time
  13. It depends on age and whether your an apprentice Apprentices From pay reference periods starting on or after 1 October 2006 the special rules for apprentices will be extended to apprentices aged over 25. This will mean that: apprentices under age 19 will not qualify for the national minimum wage apprentices over age 19 and in the first 12 months of their apprenticeship will not qualify for the national minimum wage. What are the current rates of the national minimum wage? There are three levels of minimum wage, and the rates from 1 October 2009 are: £5.80 per hour for workers aged 22 years and older a development rate of £4.83 per hour for workers aged 18-21 inclusive £3.57 per hour for all workers under the age of 18, who are no longer of compulsory school age
  14. Saw this ad for a trainee reserve assistant, but the wage seems to be well below minimum wage. Is there some get out of jail free clause that allows this? Based at **********************, Somerset £120 per week training allowance, 1 year contract This is an exciting opportunity for an energetic and enthusiastic individual to gain valuable nature reserve experience including habitat management; coppicing, scrub clearance, chainsaw work, brush cutting, gates and fencing. 20. Made my day, got to love writers like this:lol:
  21. We had spring starting to peek out down here, then its got flooded out and drowned. Really pants start to the year weather wise, but Im sure it was frozen this time last year. See to remember freezing my tits off shooting in the snow on the range at Bisley!!!
  22. I know what a dog tooth is, but whats a danish? Im guessing its not a pastry!!!! We were taught dog tooth and split level.
  23. Course all finished now, excellent week. Made a few mistakes on the last day (misread the lean of a tree and sat it on the saw:001_rolleyes: ) but Ive learnt from it, and will take a look at trees from further away in future, especially when they are on 45deg slopes!!!!!! Just got my assessment to go in a few weeks time, so will be spending the time practicing and learning everything I need to know parrot fashion. Many thanks to Rob and all the guys on the course for the good banter
  24. One straight fell, plus either a fell in direction of lean or against direction of lean. One of which should be hung up, so there is always the possiblity of not hanging up the first two, so having to do a third. This assumes you get the first two right.
  25. Sorry Tom, but if your friend is after a series 1 Landie, then hes going to get a shock. "goodish condition" and "reasonsable money" are not two things you would usually find in the same sentence, unless you think £4k+ is reasonable. I would advise going with a series 2, its longer wheelbase than most series 1's and woder track make it a better towing vehicle, it also has a bigger, more powerfull engine.
