Yes ive been wieghing all the methods and pros and cons up and came to this option because I believe I can cause a higher yield using the heaping method. I am going to start them in dipped rows then as they grow keep infilling, till by the end the soil will be humped up to around 18 inches. I saw a version of this done in a wheelie bin, planted in the bottom and filled every so often till by the end of the season bin full to brim. The yeilds are VERY impressive. I am doing a bit of an experiment, its not just a case of growing a few veg here, its about how much I can yield in a limited space. I am curious about the way the Agri business is changing and is now trying to own the food production business outright, by intellectual property rights on seeds (see Monasato) and how they basically promote a world view of scarcity and create a fear factor to promote their game. so Im going to do this out of interest, as well as a desire to preserve veg heritage seeds, and avoid mainstream agri crops which are going GM.

its a pollard out of cycle with some severe structural faults, not just the one you see. There is good flushing already occurring from the damage caused by the failure and extra light getting into the inner crown so there will be a good response to this

I suppose this looks like one of those jobs we would all drive by take a shot of it and post it up here going "woah look at this butchery job!" I wouldnt blame anyone either for saying so, however it was either this, essentially a pollard or fell it, she has a lot of Laetiporus sulphureus decay at the old heads and lost a large limb this time last year that we cleared. the white sheets in the old wound are the mycelium felts of Laetiporus sulphureus, the brown rotter, a very typical scenario in old Oaks both pollards and maidens. I will pop back and get some photos when buds burst and when a years and following years growth is made.

Well Ive got my seeds well on the way to an early start indoors, leeks/broccoli/onions, ive bought some pink and regular Garlic to plant out, sounds like I should be putting it out already! and me spuds are halved and in trays, never done them before thought this might be the way to go, maybe not hearing about the egg box idea!

I can throw a weight (10ounce) 25-30 metres, in the u.k that will cover 99.99% of trees! Groundbait catapults come in a range of wieght, and will throw soggy balls of groundbait (about 8-10 ounces) well over 30 metres. cross bow would be my preferred method, and an american fishing bow at that

glad to see these still doing the rounds, theres others avaliable through the treeworks environmental practice site- very worthy papers all worth your time. All these papers have been around for a long time now, and its a shame more people dont see them, they really influenced me.
