  2. Theres treeworkers and theres big treeworkers:thumbup1: and your right, the big trees are not here anymore, odd ones but the really big ones... (ashamed to say in my younger days I took a lot of em out:blushing:) I wouldnt mind doing one of these tall forest grown eucs just for the hell of it one day. been a long time since I had a rush!
  3. lmao, sounds like an all too often repeated thing! I am stunned at the level some of these gear junkies take it to. would love to take a gang of young guns back to the late 80's 90's show em a multiplate rope without a friction hitch a metal 20t and see how they get on oldschool fashion!
  4. Some guys dont have the confidence to leave one job, especially when its been a long term placement. its easy to get comfortable and some will put up with a lot before they cant take anymore. I have a lot of experience of this type of scenario, street mentality, its intense, if your on pricework. \the rules get bent to the nines, cars get "moved" and only the really quick guys make a decent wage, the rest go on day rate or kill emselves trying to earn the "golden balls" money. its sick, its wrong and it needs a radical shift driven by those in charge, but they wont do whats needed.
  5. I have to confess only been using the side lanyard for about the same time, us old dogs take some convincing that new tricks are worth the wieght! I do love my side strop now, dead handy, especialy with the art positioner:thumbup1:

  7. youve never worked for an A HOLE THEN! Sounds to me like the O/P is working for one of the big street firms, i know there is discent amoung the ranks in one of them at the moment because everyones being wringed for every ounce of blood sweat and tears they have. one of the longest term employees is on the verge of a breakdown and at least too are off with depression. The street crews are working at the tightest of margins at all times, so imagine how tight it gets when the markets so challenging. for all the street crews out there at the mo, i feel you bruvs, been there done that
  8. shhhhh we dont speak of such things... its the rules you know! and ive seen/done worse!
  9. Pat the ferret being a lunge virgin you cant blame the lack of style, a sort of half hearted lunge with a bit of a brucie for good measure, a very special effort all the same in a 2000 plus year old yew:thumbup1: "nice effort but must try harder":laugh1:
  10. now that was proper funny:lol: I think the session was a succses, for the reason below. Obvious I thought, these guys know what they are doing, you wouldnt get up eucs like that or play silly beggars to this level less you was a capable dude:thumbup1:
  11. Welcome to the forum, nothing to add to the excellent posts above, just stick at it, get involved and if your keen one of those you help out will offer you paid work. Keen and an ability to plod on without a proverbial prodding will always make you worth having on board, too many slouches around these days, pull your weight and youll be valued.
  12. this is another one of those double standards, I would bet (and I have some personal experience of this) youll find far worse than kitchen waste fed to pigs on a comercial basis. one law for the well heeled double barrel farmers, and another more strict for the more ethical more sustainable organic common garden farmer:thumbdown: Like the milk thing ive been reading up on, there are NO recorded deaths from raw live milk, and plenty of good scientific reasons for consuming it. However the way its "standardised" kills much of the nutritional benefits and they say the risks are too high and legislate it out of existence. and yet they will keep smoking legal, drinking legal and will before too long remove health supplements from anyones grasp but via a pharmacy on prescription. We live in a time where we are witnessing the very worst of what "statutes" can do to people.
  13. I would agree with this fully, wise post too:thumbup1: thing about climbing is stamina and training your body and your mind to be comfortable and at ease in the canopy. That takes some time, around five years for a young man. once your there its easy, and as long as you dont lay off for over a month at a time it remains easy untill you want to stop or your body is knackered! My boss still gets up trees from time to time, he is 52 and still a very comercial climber, so you have loadsa time.
  14. Thought this was worth posting up, any guys in the herts bucks north london areas? I know a lot of guys on here are getting cleaned out recently:thumbdown: Dear Watch Member, Police are inviting anyone who has had garden or power tools stolen in the past six months to an open day at Hemel Hempstead Police Station on Saturday. Over 150 tools, which are suspected stolen, were seized during a search of a property in London last month. Officers have been able to reunite a few victims with their belongings however they are holding the open day with the hope of returning more. It is thought the tools could come from addresses across the county. The recovered items include: leaf blowers chainsaws drills generators angle grinders hedge trimmers pole strimmers Also recovered are a Tielburger TK48 sweeper, Norton Clipper CS-1 saw, Norton Clipper JDW600 saw, Belle Minimix 150 cement mixer, Belle portable compressor, pop up portable access platform, JCB Beaver portable compressor. PC Yolanda Morales-Willis from the Case Investigation Team in Watford said: "We're inviting anyone who has been a victim of this crime in the past six months to come along to view the tools. If they believe an item belonged to them, they will be asked to produce receipts or paperwork with serial numbers on them. I hope people can spare the time to come along." A 23 year old man from London man was arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods and has been released on police bail until March. If you are unable to make the event and would like to check the items please contact PC Yolanda Morales-Willis via the non-emergency number 101. 16. thats what I have been saying above also:001_smile: But also that with special circumstances (i.e structural faults) pollarding may be initiated (as the standard suggests in annexe C) on larger dimensions than those within the "normal parameters" I.e as the standard suggests 50mm-200mm
  17. wish I had the space, very intelligent animals.
  18. what is this Lozzatrees method, though it may have been a witty thing that went over my head!
  19. the build up to forty is worse than the post forty! I was in a right pickle for the 12 months of 39!
  20. thats a bargain, thanks for sharing:thumbup1:
  21. ha ha, hows life in France then?
  22. Is this to help a mate as a one off or to give the experience to more disabled folks? I reckon this is a cause I could be happy to sponsor as would many many others I am sure.
  23. totaly agree, but the young lads need to appreciate that you cant come along all wet behind the ears and demand top rates!
  24. We have a problem, a government that is so detached from what the people want/need, and a desire to print more fiat currency and acquire debt to build a fancy boat for the queen, a fancy railway for the elites, and a fancy missile arsenal that will NEVER be used, but again, back handers and "incentives" rule in the military industrial complex. land is too expensive to alter ones lifestyle to sustaining small holdings. so would be the right thing to do but there are too many sheeples voting in a system thats rigged before the X goes in!
