  1. lol, going on that & the PM's there will be no shortage of willing lads! The next time I get a big job that has plenty of bigwood veteran action I will put a offer out for all you lads to come in on if only for the experience, nice to see so many lads so keen and well up for it:thumbup1:
  2. this will have the wall out at some stage and be lost as a tree, no tension roots, same as atree on a bank, if no pillar root on compression side it will fail at some stage. why not treat it as a headge pollard and retain it for another 100 years and get some logs from it?
  3. ive thought about landies but they just cant carry enough chip and still have room for tools, and the turning circle is pants! hilux too small again, one big reduction and it will be full before the jobs done, same as a landy, I will stay small for a coupke of years but I cant climb forever, will need a gang or two out when im fifty plus, and \i like having crew to look after. I used to treat my lads on birthdays, no warning, off to the pub or somewhere cool for a chillin day:thumbup1: When i can take on a fulltime groundyim going to make sure he comes with me on all courses and seminars, when i find the right one who wants to be a real eco arb:thumbup1:
  4. This avenue of mainly Horse chestnuts, some sycamores has been rounded over many times and pollarded many many moons ago, the board had decided they had had enough of the ugly butchered look of the previous contractor and got us in on local rep to try and restore some form. The trees are suffering with HCBC (horse chestnut bleeding canker) and many are due to be felled, some already and replaced with some nice trees from either majestic or barchams cant remember which norway maples rather than horse. weve done a few in the road now, this is not an easy job, very little to work with internally as they are so dense, and with HCBC deadwood galore. the other firm are cheaper on the fells so we arent being asked to do that work, but the price would appear to be less important when it comes to the aesthetic side of the operations, so just goes to show, quality does count for a lot, even when its a bit pricier:thumbup1:
  5. I wouldnt be concerned about bleeding on a prune that light either:thumbup1:
  6. I will not struggle for work or for price, Ive been able to avoid those battles:thumbup: and it definatley pays to be a quick climber:thumbup1:
  7. we all find it easy to see apattern when we are overly focused on a particular issue, you are a girdling route freak like im a fungi freak!
  8. ha ha of course they are, its used by the CIA for gods sake, its the cheapest most effective mass intelligence collecting device known to man, its saved the CIA BILLIONS!
  9. or just try a throwline over the branch test before and after, hang the bag inches of the ground:thumbup1:

  15. You guys are the nuts! I think Im going to have to push the budget, im getting worried about longevity in the LEZ might even go brand new on finance, Im confidant of getting in the work, always was good at that part
  16. yep thats what I have in mind, compact is the way forward, small turning circles, cab space is tight in these and the suzi, but im not interested in big cabs, they have too many other advantages these micro trucks:thumbup1: thats smart
  17. stupidity is what cost me my business that and thieving scum, left me with no means to earn and 54k to pay in advertising and debts, got closed down for failing on the vat bill in the end, but the truck and chipper going one night uninsured chipper and no value in the truck left me crippled and looking for a job:thumbdown: my confidence took a battering and the stress of watching them tools 24-7 killing my enjoyment so didnt want to start again. Ive got to go it alone now, ive got a mission that my current employer wont embrace, sadly cos i was pretty stable and happy, been there 6 years now
  18. thanks, shall have a look at them:thumbup1:

  24. Hi all got to set up again, time has come for me to do my own thing and so I am keeping my eyes open for a new arb wagon capable of towing a chipper and carrying tools and chip box. if you know of any semi decent ones going for preferably 3-8k give me a heads up, needs to be london low emmisions compliant, may have to stretch the budget if nothing coming in at these values. I really didnt want to go it alone again but im being held back bigtime and my wings need to be wide open again:thumbup:
  25. No! lol I am a Moron according to some! its o.k it gets me down for five minutes then im over it. I tend to come on a little strong, its my nature and its very hard to be any other way when its your default setting, im a full on full tilt, pedal to the metal type, and probably have more confidence in my ability than I should or am realistically entitled to. I just like what i do, and when im not doing it, im thinking of it or talking about it. Im a bit of a sad git really!
