  1. Have several, but the one I use the most is "If a refusal offends, don't ask!"
  2. I like to go out for a paddle when I can. Don't do anything special, just enjoy being out on the water.
  3. Thanks Dean. Multitool arrived today to an Island address!! Makes a change for something to arrive so quick .
  4. Have a look at this thread from 2010.
  5. The harness arrived in the post today. I had to do double take when I saw I had won this. Thank you Arbjobs for the the donation of the prize to the raffle and to Steve for pulling everything together
  6. Agreed on that. One of the big problems is people seeing something suspicious and not reporting it at the time they saw it. Anything that raises awareness is a good thing.
  7. From my own experience the creation of Country Watch as made a fast improvement for getting rural crime into the spotlight and action taken.
  8. That's fine be me.... my suspense will wait a few more hours as we had guests so missed the live draw. Take your well earned rest, you deserve it
  9. Fantastic amount and keep up the good work Steve!! Roll on the draw
  10. Midnight..... now did we or didn't we make the £7K??????
  11. +1 be good to know if a last minute rally will get us to £7K.
  12. Just decided to buy the same again in raffle tickets as I realised that the odds of winning have halved since I bought my first lot . Of course this has a benefit to the Childrens Trust too and I am not totally motivated by the excellent prizes on offer ... The just to add a little bit more to the pot the wife says she will fund a few tickets too so added the cost to my order . Looks like £6000 is achievable.... WOW.... wonder what the final total will be
  13. I was in two minds whether to upload the photo's or not as they are taken from a past life and are no way tree related. However I'm sure some of you will enjoy my misfortune. I will let you guess how the top image happened. The bottom one doesn't give the steepness of the slope justice and what is not obvious straightaway is the front near side axle as completely sheared locking up the left hand track whilst on a straight descent.
  14. One thought is that those of us who already have an account with Children's Trust didn't have to enter Captcha details to buy tickets as long as we used the existing account.
  15. Not that I am aware of but the banks usually have T&C clause to say that a personal account can't be used for business.
  16. If we are talking Employer paying Employee then it is best to get your information direct from the HMRC website. Normally the employee doesn't get to choose how much they get paid, but the actual terms should be detailed by the employer (more information on the DirectGov website).
  17. Naturenet law pages are a useful resource when wanting to make quick checks about legislation. The problem with laws is that they get superseded in part by other laws so the only way to know for certain is to read every single piece of legislation and the later associated pieces. To my knowledge a defense based on 'it said on the web it was ok' will be insufficient. With with specific regards to the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 (as amended) it is the birds nesting in the hedge that are protected not the hedge itself. The location of the hedge however is an important factor as it might be protected under an overall 'habit protection' such as SSSI.
  18. Some how I don't think a SatNav could be used as a line of defense and I would not rely on one to advise me the latest speed limits on any road, especially as the speed limit is dependent on the type of vehicle you drive.
  19. I agree with the first part but not the second. It is becoming harder and harder to know what the actual speed limit is on any section of road. The main reasons for this is the move away from the use of the National Speed Limit and the number of hidden speed limit signs that are around. Even repeater signs in places leave a lot to be desired.
  20. We run a Kioti CK35, loader with grab and 6" chipper no problem. The lift of the loader is approx 500kg. The main disadvantage of a compact tractor is the small front wheel size. Rabbit holes, etc are there to catch the unwary. Also used it with a 4 tonne skid winch. No problem on the winching part, but the 3pt linkage only as a 800kg lift (if memory serves) so when you take off the weight of the implement you soon reach capacity on skidding. Have been looking at forestry trailers, but so far haven't had the funds to buy one. We also run a 1.5m flail (offset / inline verge mower). When looking at smaller tractors I found that the Kioti was approximately half the price of an alpine tractor. With alpines you keep a smaller vehicle as you go up the HP range but we were limited by storage space and the next size up would not fit in it.
  21. Have to be patient then for the results . Thanks for organising this and a great financial result too
  22. How about a name change to 'General Arb Chat' to make it clearer? Or should I be posting this under the Arbtalk in 2012 thread?
