  1. Alright, so which one is most suitable?
  2. I really like the art you produce that is (and you'll curse me for phrasing it like this) 'less worked' than some of your intricate pieces. These otters remind me of the badger that you showed us a wee while ago, plain, simple, without unnecessary ornament. Just beautiful.
  3. Yes - I get it now. Sorry for my misunderstanding. Nicely explained. Thanks.
  4. Pi * D * D / 4 = area I can't make this work unless D is always 2. Pity, because it very tidy! " And using 3.0 for Pi, would both make for easier sums, and make some little allowance for saw kerf." I think this is a great idea! I would like to see how it actually compares to a real situation. Nice one.
  5. You're welcome. Remember, that's a calculation for total volume. It doesn't account for wastage as the hoppus formula does.
  6. That's right. 3.14 X (half the diameter times half the diameter) X length = volume Keep all units the same eg. metres.
  7. 3.14 X (0.75 X 0.75) X 4 = 7.065 m3
  8. You have a log 750mm in diameter (so radius is 375mm) and 2m in length. Applying the formula you get; 3.14 X (0.375 X 0.375) X 2 which is the same as 3.14 X 0.141 X 2 = 0.885 cubic metres approx. then you lose volume from the cuts. I'd be interested to see how this formula compares to Jonathan's hoppus volume.
  9. If the log's on its side; 3.14 X radius squared (m) X length (m) = volume (cubic metres) then lose some volume because of the kerf.
  10. If you need a good warm fire more than you need a rustic table or bespoke coffin lid, then burn it .... burn it all!!!!!!!
  11. Can I ask, how does the cost of this diet compare to what you were eating before? (genuine question)
  12. Palaeolithic man lived to about 30, did he not?
  13. Ha Ha. They also come with a PTO (police theft officer).
  14. Stripey. I thought I was an extra in the cast of 'Fame'!
  15. My sisters all had socks with separate toes in the 80s.
  16. They MUST be available because they sell those chainsaw sleeve things for lower-arm PPE.
  17. If you could hire it out to your competitors for more money than you gain by having it, then that would be different.
  18. I don't think you're taking this seriously. You didn't say if they had eyes or not.
  19. Yeah, they turn up at the agricultural shows over here with this sort of gear.
  20. I notice the police said "we do not want anyone to put themselves at risk of harm". They're obviously leading the way on this advice.
  21. You know what? I didn't win a damn thing in the raffle. So why am I sitting here feeling very proud of myself and you lot as well? Maybe it's because we didn't do it for the prizes. Well done Steve and everyone else. The kids are the real winners.
