  1. I registered recently, took few weeks to get cert through for upper tier. I occasionally do garden clearance, and come across varying rubbish in need of removal. Whilst I could have got away with lower tier and been free, sods law that id get pulled on garden clearance job.
  2. I stopped rowing at gym six year ago. My best distance in twenty minutes with restrictor set to ten was 5288m. On holiday last week, and the gym had an old concept rower, managed 4662m in 20mins. It is a good personal challenge rowing. I find it hard between 8mins and 14mins on a twenty minutes stint. I always try and row the last minute at sub-1.50secs. It's a personal mind over matter improving times with rowing. You have to dig in. I myself to quit, at x amount of time, then keep picking off the minutes therein.
  3. I've seen him around at the seminars at barchams and AA conference. Pleasant chap. Not sure he in arbtalk, but well done to him and the crews involved
  4. I think that elements are given as a sample on aa website. The aa offers a course on it, where by attendees are given a vast amount of info to utilise. It has the generic risk assessment info too that enables you to cross reference within the system. Without the cross referencing info, it is not fulfilling your duties to record risk. The generic system highlights the particular companies in house systems and risk management, the site specific r.a referred back to it within the tables etc. I think it's a good course, well delivered and thorough. No questions unanswered.
  5. Would easy lift harness help to reduce stress of tension during hedge cutting
  6. The extent of works for dead wooding is often the key aspect. As a rule of thumb, I say within written spec, dw over 25mm as minor dead wood, and dw over 50mm as major. The extent to which is specified is based on, budget, species, target and also amount dw present. I also consider the condition of tree, if it is in decline and offering 'bio diversity benefits, I try and educate the client to see the value in dw retention for ecological reasons. In this circumstance I'd be looking to price as job rather than day rate. Pending what your hourly rate is, will determine this figure. Deadwooding is one of those pricing jobs where your knowledge of tree treatment benefits (off which there are few for carrying out pruning a naturally growing object) and how you convey that knowledge etc to the client will secure you adequate costs/quotes being accepted. Hasten to add, that is my experience of it, and not gospel
  7. I prefer a good all round glove, one size fits all mentality, gauntlets for me all day long. Especially in the height of summer where heat really increases. Nice tingling at finger tips just before pass out and my bowels go loose
  8. Just had look on pc and not the phone, and judging by the large wounds in picture above the delamination, I'd hazard a guess the sap flow disruption would be key to this particular problem
  9. Fire damaged perhaps, any building work in distant past where by some impact had occurred. Has tree been pollarded , or had large limbs removed above delaminated bark. Such pollarding (topping) may have had significant affect on sap flow through out the tree, and the area may have dried out through lack of water and nutrient transportation.
  10. Arrrrrrghhhhh! Dis is yar time yoo ar wasting, plees, do not sleep, you pay me, ok. Hahaha. His mate, you mean clausy? Claus and clausy double act
  11. Old Mill Out was the other variety you tried on. I bought a pair as a result of the thread you wrote. Op, the original boots are good, new ones, if improvement, will be very good.
  12. It's a pleasure to spend such time with claus on his home turf. You'll love it. True gent, on the second day he was due to eat with us all for evening banquet but unfortunately had to dash. To apologise he bought us all dinner. Great company over the duration of the workshop to. Normally attracts good crowd to. Relentless
  13. Fsi, know a few people using them and they rave about them
  14. Fair play to you. Someone needs to do it, and if it suits your set up then so be it. First thing/requirement I'd recommend would be a pound for the trolley:001_tt2:
  15. I own young man 200 combination ladders. Very strong and durable. I would replace like for like, but in the combination design they no longer make them taller than 9 rung. My current ones are Youngman 200 13 rung combination ladders. As I find the combination option invaluable, I shall be opting for the abru, as they do a 12 & A 14 rung combination ladder. Zagres sky masters are good but pricey.
  16. ABRU 14 rung, combination ladders. £245 globe ladders.
  17. Fsi are ok from what I have used of them. I hired 20hp machine other week, had turntable on it which works well. I own sp2010. Fsi would give it a run for its money. Turntable really makes it easier to grind. Per wise down, but very capable I thought
  18. Watch and learn I think to be honest, but imagine will be many opportunities to get hands on to some extent. But insurance may depict that you won't be able to climb.
  19. Chris cooper-abbs from arb matters, and author of the new industry code of practice. And also mat brooker. Both of whom were presenting at the hse/aa shad's course last week. Very knowledgeable and keen to help. I learnt loads last week. Gutted, i would go myself to srt, but on holiday.
  20. Yes there are still places.
  21. Doubt you'll get silky in hand luggage. I wouldn't sign up to agencies, wouldn't give them my hard earnt money, I'd by all means be aware of where they are and the contact details. But I'd touch base with a few local firms to where you're going prior to leaving the UK. I hate agencies, last resort in my opinion. And sing 'waltz sing Matilda' whilst you climb, you won't go wrong
  22. Fosters!!!? Yeah right, I've seen pictures of you. You got skol lager written allover you bolam Been using that Swype texting on new phone, it is a Bernard. Pmsl that should read nightmare. Your into you're srt, you fancy the workshop? Or bit out of the way for you?
  23. Yes, I noticed that. I just started thread in climbing forum, thinking was General forum for climbing. Didn't realise went into sub forums. I only ever look at todays posts section. So didn't know about sub forums etc. Moderators, can this be changed our dies new thread have to be set up in correct section?
  24. Alright alright, you been on the easy lift guy sales and seizing opportunities seminar???? Lol. I have a pm with your details on from a previous flirtation I had with rebuilding a saw. Will get in touch. I know it makes sense.
