  1. If you can get hold of a book called All-In Fighting by Captain W E Fairbairn, it will show you everything you need to know about looking after yourself, it also shows you one or two things you should'nt know. Anyway, if your in to fighting or martial arts, it's well worth a look.
  2. Will the metal stay in? If I'd had known how long recovery was I've had opted for the X fix. A good horse should be able to pull it,s own weight on level ground, but only for short distances at a time. My mare, weighs about 750kg, she will pull 2 ton quite comfortably on her own in the forwarder, add 750kg for the forwarder weight. On a good downhill skid she will shift the same sort of weight with ease.
  3. Tib and fib my friend, just like you, mine was a spiral fracture, full length plaster for 9 weeks, then half length cast for 6 weeks. My problems now are all soft tissue, getting the ligaments, muscles back to full use, my Achilles tendon is a bugger. Are you in plaster or an X fix? All I can say buddy is keep yer chin up, you will get better, but it's a slow job. I read an awful lot and watched the documentary channel, I now am an acknowledged expert on both World Wars, American History, Ice Road Truckers, Axe Men, Swamp People, Alaska's Police force and anything else that they showed over the last 6 months. PM me if you ever want a chat, sometimes it's good to talk to someone who's been through it, and knows how yer feeling, all the best, CJ
  4. No, it's something i've never done, although I would like to, it's trying to find the time and someone to teach me.
  5. To be honest I really want to, but physically it's feckin hard work, I've made a start splitting next seasons firewood, and felling on level ground, but I'm only managing 3-4 hrs a day, then I'm knackered, I hope to make a start back with the horse next week.
  6. I was amazed to learn that incapacity benefit is taxable! Then a month ago I had to take a test, despite still being on crutches at that time, the fact that I could go 200yds, and I could control my bowels, meant that I lost that as well. Although I argued that felling trees was dangerous enough without having to grab yer stick to hobble out of the way should something go wrong, they said you're fit for work, fine if you're sat on yer ass all day, but not much cop if if you're on a production rate in the woods.
  7. Just filed my tax return online, due to breaking my leg back in Oct, HMRC are getting bugger all from me this year It's about the only benefit breaking your leg and being off for 7 months can bring you.
  8. It also has, "sorry ebay ended item", on the bottom of the description, I can't wait to see his reply if the top bidder gives him some grief!
  9. He certainly dos'nt take kindly to any negative feedback.
  10. Check out this persons feedback comments, especially the negative ones! husqvarna 576xp brand new in box 2011 model | eBay UK
  11. Good! I worked in N.America for a year and they had a similar system, that used the heating system ducts which were at floor level. The fact that this has a timer is a real plus, I would definately buy one. You can't beat putting on nice dry boots every day, and not trashing them in the process.
  12. Yep, still lighting ours, not till about 8 o'clock though.
  13. I'm pretty sure The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight are based at Coningsby as well, they certainly used to be.
  14. In my opinion, he is a top bloke, I first met him in my early twenties and he has, as I used to put it, the ability to talk to princes or paupers, his interests in the flora and fauna of our countryside, the crafts and skills, and the people who work in it, are heartfelt and sincere. And his two sons are in the same vein, definately more modern, but sound never the less.
  15. I consider myself lucky enough, to have met a number of the Royal Family on quite a few occasions. I have nothing but admiration for them, they pull their weight. And I know for fact, that Harry has done a few weeks in the forestry business and worked as hard as anyone, so maybe he could just lend a hand to do the leylandi.
  16. I thought it was fantastic, brilliant, we are the envy of the world, everything from the history, the tradition and STANDARDS, there is no one else out there who can do it like us. The cars, the heraldry as they entered the abbey, the coaches, horses and even the timing of everything was first class, we should be proud of ourselves.
  17. They've even got some horse logging coming up at some stage, not sure if it will air, but it has been filmed I know.
  18. Sorry, I keep putting the url in but it just comes up as Log In | Facebook. Not ever so computer savy, so don't know what to do now
  19. I too would like thank F.R.Jones and Son, great prices, good service, and highly reccomended.
  20. It's the countryside for me, I could'nt envisage living in a town. I have always had a life where I step out of the backdoor and I'm at work, the only thing I hear when I wake up in the morning is birdsong,
