  1. I would say middle of the range. I still use an old 038 . If I get offered a good 361 with 20" bar would be my next choice. Nothing expensive as it could get run over or crushed. Not to big and heavy as I leave it idleing while moving timber so less wasted fuel . Not too heavy as u need to use it all day.
  2. I keep a ryobi just in case I need reminding how good stihl and husky are
  3. we have a 525 jcb and bobcat both tear ground up as bad as each other. A small buggyscopic I think would be a good comprimise.
  4. I used to run the cheap cabinet heaters on propane. I would put one in the workshop or house until gas has gone unless you want rid quick.
  5. Telehandler may be a bit big and slow. I use old oil tanks cut in half with quick realease brkts on. I process 2cu in to them then when I get busy tip them in vehicles and away. Do most of my deliveries on a saturday when customer is in payment on delivery.
  6. I have a bobcat 751 just the right size. Any smaller and it will struggle imo
  7. cord wood 3m in length above 10" diametre Icut in three. I know I am getting old ( 41 ) and weak but if I pace myself I keep going longer.
  8. Are you working with two people. If not will you stop to load with tractor. I cut mine up and lift on as I move my machine often due to build up of saw dust. I would be interested in how other people use a log deck efficently I think it would bog my ground up and use alot of diesel. I can imagine two men working you could get through some timber but one man lots of stop starting and machinery idleing.
  9. The internet has completely destroyed the sales side of my generator business. I get plagued by people ringing up for advice which can take up to two hours to work out and quote their requirements. On a £7000 genset we make £250 if we are lucky. Our answer was to pack that side of the business in . Unfortunately now the customer can only buy from box shifters so are buying blind.
  10. We have not really given bags a fair go. I think you need to spend some time setting it up and also you need the customers for it. How do you sell yours.
  11. I worked out that 2cu metres loose in truck has cost me £56 in cordwood at £40 a tonne. Another £16 for labour to help cut it up. £6 for petrol in splitter and chainsaw £5 for red diesel. £4 for white diesel up to 10 miles. A bit more for wear and depreciation on plant and vehicles and chain oil lets say £6. So Far thats £93 assumming I did not buy anything inc wood on finance. I charge £145 for 2 cu metres tipped inc vat Now to finish processing and deliver 11/2 - 2 hrs I end up with about £50 if I do 4 in a day £200 If you get your wood free its worth looking at the above before selling your self short. The other idea I had was to wait until all the cheap 'free' wood has gone in december then charge £90 a cu
  12. hijet better on grass and lower to get your quad on if its big enough.
  13. goggle piaggio porter you will find all the spec as these are basically the same vehicles. I dont think they are as economical as you would expect as they are low geared but they dont struggle with a load. Mine is 1.9x 1.4 x .3 = .78 cu to the top of the sides but its not a big deck. I would say the big deck is easy to overload
  14. With that mesh on will take 2.5 cu metres and still just be legal weight wise but I would not fancy going round corners with weight that high.
  15. I tried everywhere to get ats for mine. Would be worth changing wheels to get some of those but they need to be 8 ply and take a fair amount of weight.
  16. I have just bought a tipper hijet 2002 1300cc only had it a couple of days use it for single loads. goes like the clappers around town. put a single load on still goes like the clappers. No body sway loaded but make sure you have good tyres on the back in the wet. So far seems much better than cab star on wet grass. Cant comment yet on fuel but would imagine 35-40
  17. used kit on ebay cheap. our log truck 110 tipper has 65hp what are you building a ferrari burner Forget the Landcruiser engine no one has fitted one successfully.I have an lc and its built like a tank to take that huge lorry engine. The trooper we have sounds as sweet as a sowing machine and starts on the button smokes when revved but thats the red diesel. Take the whole vehicle for what we would weigh it in for and make good use of it.
  18. Most of these engines are going to be too heavy. I have a 2.8 td izuzu I am about to weigh in for scrap got a good recon engine and turbo if you are interested.
  19. will let you know next June when mot comes up. They can use there own hammer I aint getting under it looks dirty and oily under there. Im a generator engineer we stand up to service engines
  20. I had a cabstar with tool box and load area was 1.5 cu metre. Worked in our favour because different size load to everyone else and we were £98. Most people could not be bothered to work it out. Should work in your favour. I will try and get a pick of our 1cu metre truck runs on lpg should do about 60 mpg.
  21. Loaded it does struggle to keep 35 up a hill. But it does not make alot of difference on journey times just feels like it. Sometimes you need an extra ten minutes in a warm cab rather than stood in a wet forest.
  22. To increase you visibility free. Put free listings on yell and places like google or local sites but be warned the call centre bunneys will ring you all day long.
  23. If you had a hiab would you deliver including the bag or can it be emptyed with strap on the bottom.
  24. Looks good and good value for £250 . I paid 250 for this as well a few years ago Advance Generators - Established in 1992 and based in Andover, central southern England, we can supply and maintain standby generators from 6 to 2000kVA Your bags only work out £10 more than your single load, alot of work in nets. Homebase are selling beech hard wood logs 7 in each bag £6.76 ea Ton bags that measure 800x800x800 only hold .55 cu so you could use that to your advantage. I have been charging £80 per cube £145 2cu was thinking of putting up in the winter.
  25. Bought this about 2 months ago for a grand. Been good so far
