  1. That would be a good start. When the chinese engine packs up the rest would bolt straight on to a honda.
  2. Last thing at night when fire is still healthy put the contents of the ashpan over the fire. You wont get as much heat but it will still be red hot in the morning.
  3. Back to the drawing board Honda 11hp used £50 2stage pump new £200 coupling and bell housing £120 used tank and a few hoses:001_rolleyes:
  4. I think it may be a bit slow and hard on batteries motor and alternator. If anyone knows if a power steering pump is up to the job I found a tidy one tonight and chucked it in the skip Yours if you want it. I have seen winches working off the power steering pump. I would fit an extra pulley and fit that as it wont trash the steering pump on your motor.
  5. I would say at least a third of my customers would not be able to get a 13" log in their stove. As houses get smaller this will become more of a problem as will storing 2 cu metres of logs.
  6. This would indicate that the grants you are talking about are offering 50% of total costs, based on the cheapest quote (which is not always the one you want to use ). So if you are talking about only a capital expenditure of only £4k to £5k then that is something you really must follow-up. In the West of Scotland we are looking at altering the ownership structure of our (larger) biomass projects, since community owned facilities can attract 90% This, combined with the fact that Community Energy Scotland CES are prepared to act as bankers too, makes the whole community approach entirely acceptable. Thanks again to the work of the Scottish Government in supporting deprived areas of Scotland. You can choose who you want to supply the kit even if they are not the cheapest. Obviously if one quote is 100k and the other two are 6k you wont get it.
  7. Up to £10,000.00 paper work is minimal you will only need 3 quotes no accts. The idea is to help woodland and forestry based companies to thrive and promote ecologically sound practices. You get alot of rumours and scare mongering from grant baggers. If you have a genuine need most of the grant agencies will do all they can to help but they are not stupid and know when people are pulling a fast one. If you ask for £3500.00 toward the machine and you cant raise the other half I would say they are right to be worried. Put it on a 0% credit card for 6 months until it comes through.
  8. As sky huck says above. Also I have limited concrete area so when weather bad we work in tent. When ground hardens reload tent with bobcat. You get all your billets done in the summer when weather is good less work in winter. By making billets makes large wood manageable. I can cut billets all day long. I cant lift 12" timber in 4' lengths onto a processor all day.
  9. I have a nine year old hakki pilki 2x . I think a circular saw bench with conveyor would do the job and be cheaper to buy. With my 2x I still have the flexibility to process 8" timber straight out.
  10. Can you not have a quick release fittings and run off bulk tank in yard. When you are going back on road, flush red out by returning to red tank for a few minutes.
  11. You could put some changeover valves and run it on red while processing. Your trailer looks heaped as well. You could be surprised how much extra wood goes out when its a few inches above the top of the trailer. Its difficult getting money to pay for equipment when margins are tight. I saw a nice little david brown with 540 and 1000 pto sell at an auction for £1100 a week a go was tempted to get stuck in but did not need it and thought I would just push the price to 1500 for someone else
  12. My way of looking at it would be the cord would cost me £168 to buy in to produce 6cu metres. 3 hrs labour at £30 an hour plus another hr to deliver. cost of fuel to process, wear and tear on machinery, cost of white diesel to deliver.
  13. Fingers crossed will know when we are scraping the snow off.
  14. The bed level is 1.6 cu so well heaped we got 2cu metres on for £145
  15. £1050.00 its had a lot of money spent in the past.
  16. Your right is, a lot of work been enjoying it for four years now, not really any money in it but who knows in the future. If I stop enjoying it, will be an easy decision to knock it on the head.
  17. I think it got sold then sold on again. Yes its 2.5 diesel
  18. Sheppach ox something or other about 9 tonne 3 phase soon to be run off honda 11hp direct. Bought it second hand but unused on ebay for £800
  19. Been busy with it and you are right nearly every load has been a close call. Was thinking of frame with mesh and basket for kindling topped off with blaze unit. But may be a bit chav .
  20. Will stop winging and get ordering. The belt had a small split when bought machine its now nearly through. If you get a stress fracture on your machine I think the bed goes out of line and splits the belt
  21. Sell buy volume loose . Otherwise you buy in timber with your cash sit on it for 12 months and watch half the value evaporate ? no brainer to me.
  22. I have not seen one to look at but catalogue reads well BGU 370 I think. All hydraulic and £7995 + vat. German made rather than finish. I think the chain may be a pig to sharpen as they are giving away a electric chain sharpener.
