  1. I am clueless about what it is worth. But have seen a few post about it recently perhaps you could pm the people and see how it panned out. Seems pop is not worth alot which seems strange with the demand for kindling and firewood. 400 acres of ash will be valuable for the next few years . The expression sprat to catch a mackeral springs to mind.
  2. For that sort of money I have room for another 2
  3. I think you are right a new 4x4 for £60,000 no problem £300 to service the generator no chance. Happy to ring us in the middle of the night when the lights go out.
  4. Its made by brinkman and it was called a britruck for nurseries. I think they do prinz now a rebadge of ausa or similar. This truck was about 1986 and fitted with 3cy kubota. Keep an eye open if one comes along ours has manual 4 speed has had the uprated crown wheel. Most of them were hydrostatic and the motors fail on the front wheels so check carefully as not made anymore. These little forklifts cost a fortune when new due to the spec, built for the job not to a spec. Lifts 1000kg to about 7ft power steering and side shift as standard. One of my favorite toys. I bought it to hold and put away 1.4cu m vented bags. The only down side I can think of for you dave is it wont stack tonne bags when the botton one is on a pallet.
  5. A bit scruffy and not working like this £1500 in good working order like it is now £3500
  6. I should think they are flooded with people wanting cordwood now. Lets be honest people should order their logs in the summer when we process the logs. Thats the time when the weather is mild the ground is hard and the days are long and the timber has 9 months to season in the sun. Not when the country is grid locked with snow or 6 inches of mud under foot -10 deg and 6 hours of day light. We are getting about 10 calls a day for logs thank god for answer phones saves repeating sorry sold out try in March.
  7. for moving 350 kg very well I would think just got to watch you dont slip and twist your back or if working on a slope watch it does not run you over. will try and get a pic. I have not used ours much as a week after I bought it a micro all terrain forklift came along.
  8. I would go with a small 12v hiab. 300kg per bag + hiab should get 5 or 6 on rather than 2 and it would be quicker and you could put over low walls etc.
  9. I have an all terrain pump truck and am going to make a frame to hold the bag open so we can process in to it.
  10. I would get a fan heater on it if it really freezes will crack block. If all ok loctite the plug back in and fill with the coloured stuff. Get cutting that wood:thumbup:
  11. The more minted they are the tighter they are thats how they got that way. i often come across people in the forest STEALING wood and loading their £80,000 range Rover while cutting of their leg with some old chainsaw they bought at a car boot. Its the hunter gather instinct coming out
  12. Most of the noises sound normal. in 4h or 4l I think the same bits are engaged dont drive on tarmac with this engaged. All the jap stuff i have makes various clicks and clacks going backwards and forwards. Dont move heavy trailers in 4 low as this will defo break something.
  13. Some good points. I think stove retailers faced with selling a £1600 stove will tell the customer anything to get a signiture on a cheque. I have enjoyed selling logs for 5 years until a month ago when i decided to run out. The attitude of the general public is appalling basically " I want bone dry logs stacked christmas eve and im not paying that" . I have a letter this week saying cord wood will be 25% more from 1st Jan. I doubt I will order much in for next winter Just enough to satisfy my cave man gatherer cravings
  14. Never had alot of luck with rad seal. Ce lite very good k seal the best but £25 and alot of faf if used right. Eggs only work on vintage stuff if not pressurised. If you have a 7 psi rad cap eggs come straight out and make a right mess inside the engine. Changing heater matirix always pita especislly if its got ac
  15. I dont think even the later 885 had glow plugs just a glow start. Ours was losing coolant when I stipped it there was a gap you could get your little finger through between the block and piston linner. Hand full of silicon sealant reuse old head gasket 5 years later it still runs the processor. Bet you cant do that with the latest common rail John Deere.
  16. We have a 785 so not sure how similar. When you turn the key just before it cranks the red light on dash should go slightly dim. This should be the glow start on the engine. If the glow start is duff new one is around 15- £40. On ours we have a start position which floods the engine with diesel until it ticks over dont pull up to run position. If bat is good but sluggish to crank check terminals and all connections to chassis. Starter motor could be full of gung and require strip and service. Ours is completely cream crackered but still starts in -8 so your should do same. Check your fuel pump is good and filters are not full of water. Apart from that i dont have any more ideas.
  17. If it was a Landrover it would be stuck and broken down:lol:
  18. D3 will probably be my next van. For me much better than a defender . I dont think I could cope with the "character" of the defender again.
  19. Anything under 8" would be ideal for a kindlet but we are too far away. I have never actually tried pop through our machine but am told its good.
  20. Thats the problem you cant get a run at it the traction control puts the brakes on
  21. I am going to call it a day on this thread as I seem to be insulting pride and joys which was not the idea. The point I was making if you use for work and want to pull a heavy chipper across a muddy field a defender with manual difflock will be better. I have found as an experienced 4x4 driver towing gensets on and off difficult sites for 20 years with the toys on it will grind to a halt with the toys off it will sit there and spin one wheel. Good driver or not mud terrains or not.
  22. A reformed brick of pine dust and shavings. If you goggle it should go straight there.
  23. I have a d2 van and had to get the parts for manual diff lock and switch traction control off when pulling 2 tonne of trailer up wet grass. We had a D3 on loan which got stuck everywhere with a trailer. When we unhitched the trailer it would not drive itself out so had to tow. The D3 is a great vehicle just not for extreme trailer towing. I will see if I can find some pics of some mad jobs
  24. I have had a letter from our cord wood supplier saying price increase 25% on the 1st Jan . I have done some calcs a kg of cord cost me 10p and produces 5.5kw when bone dry. A kg of hotmax costs me 13p and produces 4.6 kw. Now I dont have to buy the hot max 9 months up front. I dont need to break my back or machines processing it. I dont need 1000 gals of cherry. It comes neatly bagged so the customer does not have to put it away. The results are consistent and I pretty much have an endless supply. I am thinking in future it will be single load of beech with 15 bags of hotmax. Unless the price of cord goes up again then it will be 20 bags of hot max and a barrow bag of logs. What do you guys think ? I know people like a log but how much. I mix hotmax and beech in my stove for the best heat output ever
  25. D3 is excellent vehicle very refined. excellent Traction control for solo driving. If you want to pull a trailer through mud and snow forget it better off with something old with manual diff locks.
