  1. reinforce the floor and use 40 tonne machine skates
  2. Chinese generator = 30 minutes Honda = 30 years
  3. I knew it was comming thats why I doubled my mortgage payments for ten years while rates were low. As soon as a 1 bed flat round here passed 80k I knew we were in trouble they are still about 120k how is a young first time buyer going to afford that.
  4. If you are prepared to work and put the effort in ask for help and it may be forth comming. I am 44 this year and along my journey so far people have been prepared to help and work alongside. I like a tryer but hate a chancer
  5. Always interested in how long cheap stuff lasts. Helps to keep prices of proper stuff real. Eventually they will get the quality right. And the other bonus is they never get nicked. Unless the tea leafs are really stupid.
  6. Has the recession got worse no, has it got better no, is it worth worrying if its going to get worse no. If you greet your customers looking miserable you are going one way down. You are busy but always have time for a good customer. Your kit is well maintained but not flash if you dont need the unimog dont take it. You have most of the tickets and comply with most of the H&S bull but are not anal about it. I think it is going to be a good ten years before it lifts so I think we need to adapt and suck it up but what do i know I started in the middle of the last one in 1992.
  7. We have 4kg nets 40x50 cm not planning on producing bigger. I have no idea where you are based but if you are in our area you are welcome to drop in and take away a sample bag to see if it would suit your needs.
  8. I never got the nigerian bank acct with mine. Mark you are a man of the world how are u suppose to get it in that little tube. Ref the card reader we had a cc machine with streamline through Nat west through Abbey National bus banking. Until they lost £2000 of our money. It was not a problem to them because it was 6 weeks before we noticed so it was too late, after alot of swearing we got cash flowers and an apology strangely we never used it again. Years ago when you had a click clack machine when things went wrong they sorted it and took it on the chin. When they brought out chip and pin they took the opportunity to change all the conditions quietly. Now things go wrong = your screwed. I would read conditions carefully and learn some scandinavian swear words.
  9. I spoke to a very decent man nr wellow cant remember his name but very big into cord wood.
  10. I am not a great fan of Sanderson had one for two years and snapped the chassis in half then 6 months later snapped the rear axle. But I may have been unlucky. Had the jcb more than 6 years without problems. I would make sure the engine is not porus and check the hr meter is still working.
  11. Two thoughts one your spring sets inc helpers could be worn out. Second thought we have the same trailer and filled with rings to the top of the sides is 2 cu metres or 2tonnes of timber if tightly packed. If you sneak it up past the mesh sides and hide it with some ply you will have 3-4 tonnes on which will squash any springs
  12. Another good way of keeping fuel costs down is keep the electric gismos off. In the winter seat heaters really kill the fuel consumption along with anything else heated. I remember being taught as an apprentice the alternator belt when loaded up draws the same amount of power as the rear wheel on a 50cc moped
  13. We have 1.5 cubic vent bags from LC Packaging They stand about 1500mm high. Have strip vents very tough no real mould problems todate unless you process green timber in depths of winter. Very tough bags and some have been tipped 5 times so far and look like they will do another five. One or two I have torn the tipping loops off but thats just not using the knack.
  14. Ok a different angle, a tatty well used ex virgin 1980's teleporter will give you good service. When the auto box packs up you will pick one up for £500 and fit it in an afternoon. Wheras if it was ten years old you will probably need to take the engine out to get to it then on reassembly will damage a sensor and need the whole lot out again. Had mine about ten years the roof leaks all over the seat none of the lights work. nearly every box leaks oil and some times the viscous coupling has a bad day but on the whole it always does a days work when required and is still worth what I paid.
  15. Its a no brainer for us two engineers in truck we make good progress. The rising cost of diesel must have helped the travel lodges. Its cheaper to stay away than travel 100 miles ea way.
  16. Fit uprated springs to the defender. Raiseing the hitch will just overload the rear axle I think max on rear axle is about 1800kg. Nose weight on trailer should be 150kg or you will damage the trailer hitch. If you make the trailer tail heavy it will give you a brown trouser moment at about 56mph.
  17. I would look for a straight clean late 80's jcb or manitou. Avoid the joystick stuff they are full of electronics and get worse as they get newer.
  18. I think most customers have very different needs. The customers that collect a 1000 bags want them loose so they can be stacked. But some who collect 200 bags would prefer pallet and wrap. But there is a cost in supplying a pallet some wrap and time to do it. So I thought best way is to ask. We will do our best to provide what people want.
  19. Thanks for the post was feeling a bit lonely on this thread. We can do everything you ask. The keeping to a time for collection is a given, once I have a collection, I organise work for that day in the yard. If You PM me your address I will see if I can drop a sample off. Hope to see you soon.
  20. Your allowed 3 points. for 6 I think they just treble the premium for a few years:biggrin:
  21. Problem with avants, boxers and bobcats is you often want the bulk bag one row in and it weighs a tonne. A 2 tonne tele is small enough to get around a small yard but still has the muscle. I would look at something like the maniscopic
  22. Probably like most things they have taken some of the solvents out to protect the enviroment. Our 2004 merc vito rotted into the floor as it was sprayed with water based paint. I cant see solvent in glue making much difference when you see the fumes in a petrol station but thats life, worlds gone mad. Next thing you know we will have hole countries going bust and getting their own currency.
  23. As we are approaching kindling season again we are thinking what can we supply for the price. So rather than guess, thought I would ask . I would be grateful of your wish list in order. Obviously price is important but things like size, quality, bag type ect anything you can think of that is useful to you.
  24. Thanks guys:thumbup: not sure what its all about but she seems to be getting excited
  25. Getting nagged by the wife she wants some stats off facebook but needs 30 people to like her page we are on there as loggywood she only needs another 12 . It all goes a bit over my head but will make her happy
