  1. unless you can get it for £500 leave it where it is will cost nr a grand for sides and ramps. I had an indespension 3.5 tonne trailer I dont like the rubber suspension units especially when they get old and the bearings look very small. I think the ifor is a much better trailer.
  2. The kindling market is very competative and its difficult to earn a wage even with the latest newest most efficient kit. Unless you have alot of spare time I would concentrate on your main business. If we have another mild winter there will be plenty of bargain bags about.
  3. That looks a bit scarey enough to put me off. Recycleing is a good idea but not if it gives you the squits for weeks. I am a bit suspicious of the motives of the powers that be when they sell us our own crap back to show a profit. Remember a year or so ago all across europe they were dropping dead and the link was salad and cucumbers ( probably grown in sewage ) . I thought mushroom compost was made from chicken poo from large broiler farms ( not a pretty sight when they clear them out after 6 weeks )
  4. Have you tried fuel wood sounds like their kindlet pro 3 phase machine can be set for 9in logs or kindling.
  5. over about 20 years ago they did not worry about age relating I think thats a recent thing. That mog looks late 60's to me
  6. I have a sheppach ox12 which was 3 phase which was superb running off a 17 kva genset. We run it once from a tractor hydraulic too slow. It is now running off a 11hp honda direct drive not enough power. My point is if you have 3 phase power that would be the way to go.
  7. If it was me I would try and cut the hours down in the force and do a day or so a week in the trees especially while the recession is biteing and possibly getting worse. After a couple of years you may find the enthusiasm wanes a bit. A few more years in the force will improve your pension. I have started a couple of businesses in the past and always ended up back on the road servicing big generators for large organisations. After being on good money for years you can earn 20k for a few years but after a while your car is old and your house looks tatty and your holidays are not as good. I know from experience. It takes some doing to make 4k a month after expences.
  8. It does not say what size u600 or u900 . We had a u600 for a bit of fun but very little use for work with a 60hp engine in it. Also may have been registered in 1983 but when was it made.
  9. Yes no problem mike. We have been flat out with orders for the last 3 months we will be finished in about 3 weeks and will start stockpiling for winter. If we have a hard winter we may have a problem this year with lack of offcuts because the building trade has slowed up. If anyone thinks they may want kindling let me know I dont need definate orders just an idea so I can gather enough material. If anyone knows of any long lengths of reject untanilised timber I would be interested.
  10. I am trying to think of something funny without it cumming out the wrong way
  11. What size do you need. I have a hilux which is on yard duty was thinking of selling it on as my yard is shrinking soon and turning circle is rubbish. It has one almost new bfg mt and three crappy remould things.
  12. are the jcb type power packs up to the job I am sure there is enough pressure but do they produce the flow ? I have a 11hp honda with 2 stage hyd pump but would like a bigger engine.
  13. I cant open my zip would be tripping over it all day:001_rolleyes:
  14. In ox and US I would imagine they work long hours in the winter so they can sit on the porch in a rocking chair drinking beer and spitting in a tin bucket when its hot. Or they work till 12 then rest the afternoon and work 4-8 like they do in europe. Or if your young and really hiper they can maintain their toys in the airconditioned workshop. Remember only mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the mid day sun.
  15. I have never heard of anyone getting a disease from virgin peat compost. Could this compost he was using been made form rubbish you take down the tip.
  16. I know a few depends where you need collection from does the tractor drive how big is it what does it weigh how quick do you need to collect.
  17. I will get a pick of mine but its not going to win any prizes at a Landscaping contest so be kind I keep mine on pallets so I can move them.
  18. If anybody wants a few trailer loads of soil and live nr Andover Hants give me a shout can load with bobcat. Half my processor dust goes in the incinerator the other half composted. Mixed together produces bright green giant veg
  19. Some years we do some. Some years dont bother. as slack said dont over do it straight away as if it gets away from you can be a pain. I tend to plant stuff that we like and costs alot to buy. spring onions, courgette, toms, carrots cos you cant beat the taste. Potatoes same reason. We cant grow brassicas round here. Always in raised beds dug with bobcat . Raised beds are easy to weed on the back and keep the rabbits out. Keep the carrots high keeps carrot fly out especially if you grow with spring onion. Ask local growers what does well in your area and stick with that. My veg garden always looks overgrown with weeds low budget but always produces large amounts of fantastic tasteing veg
  20. We have air con on the house. Under 30 deg we dont bother switching it on. Over 30 deg I would not be without it after some of the recent summers. 26 degrees + at night is uncomfortable and for A £1 you can cool the house down in the evenings for a few hrs. We dont really notice the electric as the hot tub uses £60 a month anyway.
  21. Yes I think you are right. My wife has used her personal acct Lindy Beale to like the sites so far. I dont think a business can like another business if that makes sense. I think she used my desk top to find the links then liked them on here ipad. All sounds very complicated to me
  22. Have you tried selling your arb waste now as logs get them to season it them selves. You could offer it cheap as the timber was from jobs. Or if you dont have any team up with a busy tree surgeon and pay beer money. You will have most of the kit already you could under cut people like me by a long way as we pay top money for cord. You wont get rich but may help you out of a hole short term people are looking for bargains even the well off ones I think if they can save 25% they would go for it. Only down side is you may have to shell out for some ads.
  23. One way out of this clamp down on the benefits system especially the disability system give more to the ones really in need and make the fat ones loose weight. Stop economic migrants coming in. Weed out lazy useless civil servants and politicians, greedy bankers etc. Put money back into needed sustainable businesses. Oh yeah I need a new processor so grants were good
  24. I have had loads of phone calls this week from ads I placed 2 years ago when cord was thin on the ground. Cord has gone up a third in 4 years but the cost of a load of logs has barely changed. After the mild winter I have a feeling there is alot of cord about so prices should be more realistic. Of course if the winter bites hard in October we will be back to square one. £35 a metre at road side is enough IMO but then I am buying
  25. It could be I cant add up let alone work a balance sheet syndrome. You know when log man A rings round in October to see what others are charging not because he is clever but cant add up. Unfortunately he rings log man B who also cant add up so they sell their logs for £10 a load less than they pay for the cordwood. I would imagine alot of kindling gets made at minimum wage and some by illegal immigrants out in the sticks.
