Beech is my favorite out of all the species. Dense enough to last, light enough to start a fire. Very heavy when green unlike ash. Very popular with customers when seasoned.

Thats caravans. My disco weighs 1700kg but pulls 3500kg of trailer about ok.

Decisions decisions I like the idea of owning as it gives me flexibility when the weather is against us ie wind wrong direction for burning also I will soon have modern houses down my boundry. Hiring is ok but sods law says as the chipper turns up we get a generator call out. Pto chipper sounds good but means I will have to keep my last tractor but it does justify having it and could be used on jobs locally if any one gets a job on.

We are always looking for timber for the kindlet. 6 3/8 is max for modern kindlet better at 6" saves giving wood away and a bit of a margin for error. It will all come down to who is closest to you.

What sort of offcuts do you get from your saw mill. I have looked very closely at the figures you should get 60 bags an hour from a kindlet. But it takes nearly as long to prep the planks to 6" so thats 30 bags an hour a few knot jams down to 25 bags an hour. My wife runs the kinlet as a side line. I could not afford to employ someone to run it. May be we could part ex your wood for kindling.

See they got this whole overloaded business down to a tee in India as long as you have some beads and a cross hanging from the mirror you cant go wrong.

No you are all wrong Look in your handbook will tell you. If you are old like me you can tow what you like up to gross 8.2 tonnes. If your young you cant.

keep it simple as we all know too much paperwork is a pita. check tyre pressures, oil level, coolant level, washer bottle level weekly or 400 miles which ever comes first. Make it more complicated or long winded and it will get over looked.

The thing that annoys me is that even with pictures of overloaded vehicles. I bet very few have accidents compared with speeding chavs and women texting on the school run. Overloaded vehicles tend to get driven very smoothly normally with finger nails sunk in the steering wheel and ass cheeks gripping the seat.

I tried burning in the past always seems to burn out in the middle. Whats the trick with green bushy stuff. I also seem to do a bit here and there as kit gets moved out.

I have an acre of ground around my house bordered by hedges of mixed rose hips hawthorn elder etc. Also a few hundred feet of conifers. I used to get a farm hedge flail in but now its too congested also the clean up took along time. I was thinking of a hydraulic feed 5in chipper for £2000 max. With my own chipper and a sturdy stihl hedge trimmer I am in control of how much comes off as well. What would you recommend? Thanks for your thoughts.

It could be an option. I have about 4 cu of beech 4" sticks cut about a year ago ideal for stuffing into nets no sharp edges. -
Good luck in the future onwards and upwards. I am knocking logs on the head but I am not leaving arbtalk your stuck with me

Looks a useful tool. Better than the usual arm ache followed by kicking the saw round the yard followed by lots of swearing.

Thats strange because all winter its been dead. I normally do 10 loads a week but last two years about 2 a week. Then last week 15 loads Luckily only about 20 more loads then I am finished for good. Just kindling and generators from then on. -
will it not go on over size pallet. I have some nearly 2 metres long they just charge you a bit more.

I have had a 751 bobcat for 13 years. Brilliant versatile bit of kit. A jcb robot may be better for the log job because you can get in and out easier. The only down side is the mess a skid steer makes if you are working on mud.

Before you start eliminating micro traces of food elements and poping pills I would try not drinking any alcohol for 2 weeks. It can be done I did it once

Made worse with stress. things that used to set me off fresh coffee, big roast dinners especially roast potatoes cooked in veg oil ( but ok if cooked in lard ) too much red meat. Not enough fibre in diet. Eat bran with fresh fruit for breakfast plenty of veg and fruit cut down on the stodge and beer.

Yes sorry crossed wires. We wont be supplying logs in the future but it takes at least 18 months to get rid of stock. But I still have some stock left. I would do logs again always enjoyed standing in the pouring rain getting splinters and trapping fingers:biggrin:
