  1. [quote Not sure what you mean about AOD though Bundle? Phenom, Longleat is not FC land... it would seem to make sense that there was bio-security there though! AOD........Acute Oak Decline

  3. you have a good eye for staff.....that admin fella is on the ball......nice one.
  4. since time memorial man has had a relationship with woodlands. Foraging, fornicating, shelter, coppicing, good, evil etc etc. This relationship is still with us and for good or for worse mans continuing presence is often left as traces.
  5. I have reached my limit for posting images....what do i do now???
  6. You have a great eye sam!! Some stunning shots and ideas. nice one:thumbup:
  7. Went out to coopers hill woods in runnymead on sunday. Found some great specimens but would appreciate some i.d's please. Obviously ok with the Fistulina, inonotus, and laetiporus and gano. The last one is either Hygrophoropsis Aurantiaca or cantharellus cibarius? But the others i.d's will be very much appreciated. Cheers
  8. So i was walking along and came across a big old vet oak and i thought to myself 'that hollowed trunk looks a prime site for the elusive oak polypore'. On investigating further, to my astonishment there she lay! (i think) pic 1 is upper surface and 2 and 3 underneath.
  9. ruislip woods.....beautiful woodland. Old coppiced hornbeams, oaks, birch, sweetchestnut mainly.....worth a visit:thumbup1:

    Fungi Faves

This was one of my faves......
  18. Myerscough online tech cert......not ideal but a means to an end. I mangaged to pass with a full time job and 3 kids taking up my time. Thought the support from college was pretty poor to be honest but at the end of the day i just wanted the modules and then used any other resources i could lay my hands on..... Hama and Bundle you will find it a breeze based upon what I have seen in both of your contributions to this site. You both know far more than I do!! Go for it you'll both be fine i can assure you:thumbup:
  19. is that shorthand for 'gobsmacked'?
  20. This is the Ankerwyke yew which has been dated at around 2500 years old. It is not far from Windsor on an old estate and sight of an old priory. Some great old trees here but nothing compared to this beauty. To be in its presence just reflecting, feeling its wood, sitting beneath it is a priveledge . If anybody is around the area at any time then it is a must see.
  21. Havent posted for a while so heres one from today.....good to see it standing unmanaged.
  22. Good walk today around the old Ankerwyke estate just across the river from runnymeade where the magna carta was signed. The ankerwyke yew is 2500 years old (apparently) and is something to behold. Will post a thread on this tree seperately. For now..... Some great old coppice alder.....amazing root system. And this Black walnut is just majestic. The photos really do not show the sheer size of this tree....it is huuuuuge!
