  1. I bet as soon as I turned my back.....
  2. Thanks Paul.Much appreciated:thumbup1:
  3. Yes that seems to be the most common figure batted around Google etc. I'd really like to see what percentage are down to vandalism. I'll give one of the tree officers in Brizz a buzz. Cheers Paul.
  4. I give up. Had my say. I'll leave this thread to you lot.
  5. Yea I realised that after the event
  6. Does anybody have info with regards mortality rates of newly planted trees? Specifically looking at mortality rates of Council tree stock within the first 3 years of planting. Would also be interested what percentage of deaths are down to vandalism? Any help would be much appreciated. Cheers Sean
  7. Not getting worked up about it. It's very frustrating to be following a thread you may have an interest in and having to trawl through loads of crap to get to the next valid post. There's no need for it to escalate into something completely unrelated when this can be chatted about elsewhere.

    Tree Neglect

Thanks chaps for contributions so far. Keep them coming please:thumbup1:
  9. As can be seen from my flippant comment, so have I
  10. Come on, that's alittle unfair. The thread I was alluding to is full of personal abuse, slander and God knows what else. My small flippant quip although unnecessary comes nowhere close to what I and many others would like to see stamped out. There I admit I'm in the wrong. That's all I'm saying on the subject.
  11. Yes you are right. I've slapped my wrist.
  12. Arboristshite you mean?
  13. Or he's casing the joint.
  14. After having to wade through so much crap in order to read the relevant stuff on what was an important and somewhat sad thread I feel things have gone too far and it's time we all done something about it. http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/general-chat/97894-yard-ripped-off.html I was gobsmacked at some of the things being written in this thread. At one point I thought I must have stumbled upon a forum for imbecilic teenagers. This is an Arb Forum, for discussing Arb related issues. I appreciate that some threads due to their nature will veer off subject when the issues provoke certain feelings and this I feel is acceptable to a degree but to go completely off topic so the important issues are lost within a pile of bull**** is starting to get too much. I'm sure the admins have enough to do in order to keep this forum going and they could certainly do without being a dinner lady in the playground standing between too spotty kids having a row, so therefore it is up to us to self police this forum. If a thread starts to go off topic and you feel you want to argue the toss about something completely unrelated then stop, have a think and ask your protagonist to 'meet you outside to sort it out'. Go to the lounge, PM each other or meet each other over the school fields to argue the toss. Let's not fill other people's threads up with our issues and gripes. Do it elsewhere and keep the Forum for what it is meant for. Please.
  15. I'm pretty sure their will be a number of factors involved which has weakened the trees to enable AOD to take hold. Certainly there is heavy compaction as well as heavy dog use.
  16. http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=forstner+bit+60mm&tag=googhydr-21&index=aps&hvadid=40775800610&hvpos=1t1&hvexid=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=8872417290926456622&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=b&hvdev=t&ref=pd_sl_9shunme36m_b
  17. I'm pretty sure that the highest number of Oaks with Acute Oak Decline in Richmond Park were those that grew in the immediate vicinity of the car parks. These areas had the highest concentrations of dog urine in the whole park. Whether these trees were weakened by urine and therefore became more susceptible to AOD remains to be seen. I guess we will have to wait and see what the research in the park tells us?
