  1. Thanks for the info I've just ordered it from amazon got it for £7.17.
  2. Evening all hope you've all had a good week. The wife and I have been talking about getting some ex battery hens ( about 4 or 5). Am looking at building my own chicken coop but my carpentry skills are not the greatest in the world. Does anyone have any tips or experiences of building their own chicken coops? Cheers Stevie
  3. That looks like someone who isn't confident at climbing. The best thing about spikes is taken them off at the end of the day.
  4. You crafty trickster!
  5. Dallas near Elgin 25/7/09 night of my wedding.
  6. Am doing mine in August. Any tips?
  7. I think she ate the dogs leg!
  8. Sorry I didn't see the last lot of picture. From the look of it the tree is doing well. Good job!
  9. I would say hats off to you for not just taking the easy option and just felling it. I wouldn't like to comment on how the tree looks until I've seen the finished product and maybe best to comment when the tree has recovered with some new growth. I personally have not yet done any fracture pruning but was thinking of trying it out on a old oak tree thats on the grounds of the property that I live at. There are a few branches that have splits and cracks on them. Have you got any info or a good link for me to have a read up on before I attempt it? Keep up the good work
  10. My future little arb Felix. Unless the Harry Hill impersonations take off. Or he may become a model as he already has the blue steel look down to a tee.
  11. Can a day keeps the dentist in business!
  12. Am pretty lucky I live and work in the Highlands of Scotland and wake up to this view every morning.
  13. It could have been it was only on screen for a couple of seconds, but the truck was white and the chipper was orange yellow colored. And Police Interceptors is filmed in Essex.
  14. Did anyone see the tree surgeon van towing a chipper on police interceptors this week? [i watched it on Sundays night]. It wasn't involved in anything dodgy just passing through the scene of a car crash. Was it anyone on Arbtalk?
  15. 357xp for me to.
  16. Yeah I watched it as well. They slaughter the dolphins for there meat knowing that the meat if full of mercury, so they are giving people mercury poisoning. The wife had to go to bed as it up set her so much. Here's a interesting fact about dolphins. Dolphins rape and murder within their societies, one of the few animals besides humans to do so.

    innuendo

Would love to see how they managed to fell the tree.
  18. Welcome to the site mate. I've heard good thing about Barony collage. I started studying forestry at the Scottish School of Forestry and after about a month of sitting in a class room watching the arb guys go out and climb trees all day I switched courses.
  19. Ok people whats your favorite film that features chainsaw? For me its The Running Man.
  20. Probably a silly question but are arb logs the random lengths of wood cut by tree surgeons?
  21. Worked in call centers for about 10 years when I lived in Glasgow, I had a going no where life of working and partying until I met the the wife moved up to the Highlands got a HNC in Arb and urban forestry and went self employed Jan 09. Best move I have every made.
  22. I got to get my self a pair of those denim chainsaw trousers!
  23. Makes you feel a little bit guilty doesn't it?
  24. Thanks alliaria, No signs of saprobes or and other fungus. The canopy probably starts about 20-25 feet above the pruning wound, if I reduced the canopy there wouldn't be much of it left. Could remove the lower branches but there's not many of them. Could you educate me a bit on notch stress and lever arm? Cheers Stevie
  25. Total agree with Mozza mate! Post as much useful info as possible. If your looking for subby work you will need to have most of your own gear and PPE and if you drive and what tickets you have and what experience you have. I done a employment thread last year and got a couple months of invaluable experience from just putting as much info as I could think of. Willing to travel is also a good point to put, thats if your willing to travel.
