  4. ve been planting eucalyptus on a estate I work for, its a bit of a trail run to see what they grow like. We've been using a method called mounding to plant them on where a excavator digs little mounds all over the place and then trees are planted on the mounds its meant to help with frost and create a weed free enviroment for them to grow, hopefully something good will come from them
  5. Yh forwaders and trailer cranes come under loler, gunna do my fmo soon so got some reading up to do
  6. I do think the 76 is a bit more heavier than the 72 and a bit more awkward to use for snedding and that, but that's just personal opinion
  7. Great minds think a like stubby:biggrin: my contractor heat seizd his 576 couldnt take the abuse... i also knew a contractor that had a 372 for like 10 years and still keeps going
  8. Im handcutting in the woods everyday and have used a 576 but i own a 372, hands down for met he 372 is a better saw, its lighter i can put a 24" on it and it handles it fine i also have a 15" for it which makes it and animal in a nice hardwod block!!! but thats just my opinion it just find the 576 really bulky, i also own a 560 xp
  9. im narrowing it down to a discovery or and l200 i recon seems you get the most motor for your money with these motors.... pros and con for theses please?
  10. does sound like a nice job, good luck to ya. i hate it when moneys not discussed before hand it makes everything so much more awkward
  11. i did think about a van but a van would have no chance of getting down the tracks and fields, problem is once the forwader with tracks goes down there everything turns to mush. also im getting sick of parking miles away from the cutting site and having to walk half an hour into the woods on some sites lol Thanks for the advice
  12. im thinking ford ranger to be honest with double cab for the extra space
  13. The times coming when i think my corsa is gunna give up the ghost, all these bumpy forest tracks arnt doing it any good so im defenatly thinking about getting a 4 x 4 so the queston is what do you lot think are good motors i know everybodys got there preference but it would be good to get some good and bad points like miles per gallon etc as i dont want to buy a mony eater. im thinking about either spending 4-5k or do you think it would be worth putting that 4k towards finance and getting a newer motor maybe with a garentee for a year or two? i was thinking along the lines of a disco but have heard a few bad things so thoughts on ford rangers nissan navaras izuzu rodeo and any others people have experince with cheers guys
  14. depends on the work, if i do planting or drive machinery i charge 70 to 80 if i use my own equipment and the job uses alot of fuel il charge a little bit more to cover costs, have you done much forestry or estate work before?
  15. Id say £80 to £90, its better to charge a little bit less and have constant work than charge more and get it in dribs and drabs, i work for contractor doing commercal forestry most of the time, but also do work for an estate and i only charge £75 to £80 a day.
