  4. id be thinking about buying new, then for that money get your old one rebuilt, £80 is cheaper than having a breakdown & returning to a job the next day:thumbup1:
  5. mk2 fourtrak all day long...... cracking little trucks, fit locking front hubs from a mk1 thou!
  6. depends on the weather & jobs booked in,,, minimum of 10 hour day, when busy, in summer an 18 hour inc work on the farm day isnt unheard of,, although, children change your priorities, since ive had them i work a lot less than i did,, i dont climb, both lads who do will do max of 10 hours, clearly not up a tree for that thou!!!!!

  15. im using same thing but have used old curtains from curtain-side lorry for the roof!!! a few lenghs of 4x2, job done!!!
  16. at least you will feel that your annual breakdown fee is justfied, after only a month you will be on 'first name terms' with the overseas call centre!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  17. P.s. - if you want a second round have an estimate of whats in the botex in the avatar - yr old sycamore / wych elm / birch & a bit of oak - all 2.2m nominal & 1 yr old (been piled in the wood) im gonna have a random guess at 5 ton!!!!! [with drinking, without calculating!!!]

  20. all i can say is, if hay earnt me lots of money, i wouldnt do logs, likewise... if logs earnt me lots, i wouldnt do the hay, they both earn some money, not lots though, ive heard tree surgery is where all the easy money is, can anyone here tell me whats involved in setting up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:001_tt2:

  22. we decieded to rely on contractors.... sold mowers etc last year, wrong move!!!!!! people this way are definatly panicking, neibouring farm rumoured to be selling conventional bales for £5.00 each, local scats pushing £6.50 per bale!!!!!
  23. im guessing a few of you have wives, girlfriends/boyfriends etc that have horses, how are you finding hay supply in your area????? sussex /surrey is very short, prices going through the roof,,,,,,, i know it's a bit of a random topic but.... weve not cut yet, im sure we arent alone!!!!! let me know how it is in your local area, cheers:thumbup1:
  24. have you got a local B.O.C. gas & gear shop?? there anti-fog safety wear is good, bit on the dear side but they do re-placement lenses etc
  25. the 'mark up' on logs......... back ache!!!!!!!
