  1. it is quite a clever thought out cut, advantages i can see is it wont fall till you pull it, so you can do the cut move well away, when you pull it you can pull it in direction you want, only disadvantage i can see is getting the experience of how big you want your step to be to small it will fall to big you wont be able to pull it over. nice idea though i like it
  2. had this simple enough eucalyptus to dismantle today. only trouble was going to be the timber cause it was all paved driveway so just left a big brash mat and bashed off some rings done by lunch
  3. i dont personally no what r bell are like to work for, but i no a couple guys who have and do work for them and they are top guys who are a top laugh.
  4. this mornings job blown over willow, everything staying on site stems on this went past the conifer hedge into next doors garden so i just got up there and took ends off and the rest was easy.

  8. ill climb in almost all weather, (bar thunder and lightening although i have been up a tree before in that) i dont see what the fuss is about. preperation is the key you all no its going to be cold so stick the right clothes on other than that whats the difference.
  9. some dead beech, sycamore and elm from a couple years ago burning a treat
  10. had 8-10 inches near kings lynn where i am in norfolk all good fun only took us 2hours to do a 20min usual trip to the job today
  11. little conifer from today was in the neighbours garden, and had to all come into this garden. zipline wasnt a option because wasnt tall enough, so i desided to have a redirect pulley up a bigger birch, to bring a line level with the top of the conifer. then stuck a pulley on the line and sling the stems at the top, cut them at the bottom and had a pull line to pull along the line then slacken off the line till there on the deck. worked wonders
  12. it was simply a well planned out way for me to get ian to climb up half way to get my rope back since he was feeling lonely standing around in the cold
  13. looks like the gob wasnt deep enough, still good learning curve for him, least he knows some of the dangers up close and personal now only way you learn
  14. thanks, reductions are something i have really been working on hard recently used to be so unsure about them, slowly getting it now. without asking where to take every branch
  15. looked like a hell of a spread out pine if that was just one tree??
  16. i use portwest high viz thermal gloves great for climbing in they last about a week of climbing in perfect condition then they start to peel slowly after that and they are very toasty Portwest High Visability Thermal Grip Gloves - Medium - Transtools
  17. ooo thats trust right there well i shall try and get it sorted, i worked it out should be able to take the whole tree in about 10 or so lifts i reackon easy day.
  18. cheers for that rupe makes me think bout it more anyways, since im flat out with work atm the best option is to get it done quick as possible. esspecially since the days are so short now. plus the fact i just wanna use a crane for first time
  19. unless im going to lower all the stuff onto the roofs of the 3 buildings on the 3 sides of it, or the fence on the 4th side of it, there is no other options, apart from speedline which isnt ideal on popular. either way im going to be stuck when it comes to the main stem so i say crane it and get it with less hard work.
