  1. Looked a big tree in a tight area wheres the rest of the pics/vids
  2. I would go for the schliesing everytime ive used the 190 quite abit and wasnt that impressed if im honest only tell the difference from 150 to 190 when feeding big logs ive used all kinds of schiesings a 9in tracked and 12in on a turn table dont know the models though i no they have hydraulic powered rollers instead of springs on the timberwolfs so if you can feed it in the roller it will go through crushes all difficult unions only thing in favour of the 190 is price no problems getting parts cheap parts and not as heavy as the schiesings i wouldnt have thought

  6. Most stubid thing ive done is when i was first out of college reducing some beech branches off a house had to be rigged out because sheds right under the tree and the tips were overhanging the house roof. Anyways set the pulley on the branch i was cutting cut the gob tied it off and then looked down to check groundy 1 was ready to lower hes ready for it then i knew what groundy 2 was like he would walk under not a clue etc im keeping my eye on him and manage to concentrate on him rather than where im cutting and manged to cut the branch behind the pulley so branch just free falled to the floor lucky it landed perfect nothing damaged but lesson sure was drumed into me how easy mistakes can happen

  14. Nails and bricks mostly! But working for gareth few weeks back taking some shrubs out of a old peoples home we found this lot i never want to get old!!!
  15. I used to use the vio pov 1.5 cam which is good quality bit of kit really perfect only downside was you had a wire from the cam to the little recorder pack. I recently updated t was either the go pro hero 2 or the vio pov 1.5 hd i went for the go pro simply because its on your head no wires just that unit battary life is terrible on it so added the extra battary pack to it also i find im always taking my helmet off to check its recording aswell but other than that a good camara also.
  16. I no me and a guy im going with are looking to buy a new stihl 81r hedge cutter each if the price is right
  17. Really love looking at old pics. How old out of interest were you when you went out to australia i take it? That would soon sort the men from the boys with them trees!
  18. I would agree totally unsafe practice but they have some balls taking on jobs like that with there equipment give them that.
  19. Id second that from my experience of when i owned bc625i built like a tank real solid but the single roller wasnt up to the job for me wouldnt drag stuff through or break folks easy other vermeers could be different as that is a old machine i had.
  20. Today i was asked to dismantle 2 conifers and today i felled 2 conifers had to be abit careful because it was behind the front of the house so it could catch that on the other side was her fruit trees so turned into quite a tight gap. Only concern was the stem was split into 2 so put a ratchet strap around the whole stem which did the job till tge stem hit the deck and exploded apart snapping the strapping in half. All in all easy day down cleared and tidy by 1 pm started at 9am had breakfast and lunch aswell.
  21. I use ladders daily great tool! Use them for hedging on the A frame or triple extended use them for access into the tree. Also pruning small trees on light reductions do the sides from the A frame.
  22. Heres one i did about a month or so ago no before shot couldnt get back far enough for a decent shot but i wouldnt be comfortable going heavyier than i did on it.
  23. Hi cheers i used to film all my other vids with the old vio pov 1.5 but only recently last couple weeks bought the go pro helmet hero 2 basically u stick a plastic mounting onto your helmet and it clips on the top easy as that. Quite pricey though talking 300quid around that figure.
  24. Good feedback so far thanks guys, that is something i was concerned with while we were doing the job cranking to much tension into the system its going to take some getting used to but we got better at it throughout the day i must say. Andy the groundies were fully aware of what my plans were with the freefall sections i could see where they were at all times all the way to the chipper. I did mention after we done the job we could have placed the grcs on the neighbouring willow but wasnt concerned with it where it was the whole tree had such a lean all the stuff was going well away from the groundies.
  25. felling the stem [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aqqr5JTof_g]poplar rigging the fell - YouTube[/ame] cheers, the grcs is a single bollard with a 2 speed winch inside so you can lift and pretension the lowering line etc really is more than worth the price tag they hold.
