  1. Big hedge from today, made easier with a mewp. before and during shots, forgot to do an after I think the lorries trim the bottom part of the hedge throughout the year, so we don't have to.

"But I don't want to go among mad people," Alice remarked. "Oh, you can't help that," said the Cat: "we're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad." "How do you know I'm mad?" said Alice. "You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn't have come here."

  5. hi, checked the firewood directory to no avail. can anyone suggest a supplier of good firewood? cheers
  6. ok thanks for the replies. i'm beginning to think it would be more use as firewood. if anyone nearby is still interested, then feel free to message me and you can take a look.
  7. thanks david, i need to convince myself that the fungi directory is a more valuable use of my time than 'call of duty'
  8. That looks brilliant! Big bold font, really stands out.
  9. Thanks for the replies. The tree is near Harleston, 7 Miles east of Diss.
  10. I have no experience with milling so hopefully someone can shed some light on this and maybe give an idea on prices etc. We have this beech dismantle coming up, probably the end of november. I'm not sure how good beech is for milling or if this would be a suitable specimen. It's around 2.5 ft dbh, up to about 20ft, where the crown starts. Sorry to be so vague with the measurements.
  11. A very dead/dying lime dismantle from the other day. A rare outing in the mewp as in the wind, the tree was lifting and shifting from side to side at the base! As you can see from the hinge pic (exactly, what hinge?!), it was in a state. If anyone could fill me in with what the fungal brackets are that would be nice. I should swot up on them really....
  12. If only they put as much skill and determination into real, honest work!
  13. We do alot of LA reductions, either whole tree or one or two limbs to take weight off potentially dangerous limbs over footpath, roads, gardens, schools etc. The only real reason a tree needs to be reduced is that it's in the wrong place. You can't change that, you have to just accept it and either reduce it or remove it, or in some cases leave it alone. If it wasn't for trees being in the wrong place we wouldn't have alot of work, which is sad.
  14. i take it you will use a mewp for the hedge? she's a monster!
  15. I live about 30metres from my local, but it's not really a 'local' as such because it's in a large town. I would love to spend evenings down the local but I can't afford £3 a pint. We have just bought back 80 pints of v good scrumpy from Somerset at 80p a pint so will just invite people over to drink that!
  16. that is truely awesome. (and big saw with a wee bar! )

  20. Haven't seen him about for a while!
  21. Thought i would try my luck on this thread, feel free to criticise, i'll take it on board . The top two are my skinny hinges from today, both maples. Top one is roughly 25" and bottom is 16". I've added button1803's 28" beech (with a fairly heavy lean towards felling direction) from the other day as it was on me phone, which is at the bottom.
  22. Just awesome mate. I loved the chilled out guitar and no screaming 200t. Big balls and big brains
