  1. I can't see what all the fuss is about. Maybe i'm easy going, but why do people get so worked up by someone displaying a bit of harmless dark humour? It was funny seeing the presenters squirm!!
  2. We were doing work on some 80ft beech today. After break and lunch, the ladder was a very welcome bit of kit!! You just can't beat the combination ladder, set up as an A frame, fully extended + a polesaw, also fully extended
  3. Christmas is cancelled this year. Haven't you heard?

  6. i should think i would at £82!!!
  7. We did the small Box section in the last photo earlier this year. Before that Steve Manning of Topiary Art Designs looked after them (he said he's a bit too old to be climbing ladders all day so passed his hedgework onto me)
  8. errm, slightly blunt 14 year old hs80's not even joking. it's all in the wrist
  9. Thought i would share this as it's a bit nicer than the usual conny hedge we get to trim button1803 did the bottom stuff, i was on the big ladder. Turned out to be a really nice day after the fog cleared! I believe the Dog is based loosely on the one outside the Guggenheim in Bilbao.
  10. my gf's dad uses only aspen for his saws, hedgetrimmers, strimmers etc. it's a pleasure using his stuff as you don't ever get that nasty build up of fumes (worst for it in my experience is cutting down a stump to ground level, the fumes seem to just stay in one place). in my opinion there isn't any reason not to use it when the cost is paid by the customer anyway, without affecting your day rate much at all.
  11. here you go.... Ben learns how to become a farmer the hard way - Business - East Anglian Daily Times i like this quote
  12. what, this? London: Man arrested after three police officers stabbed and another injured - News - East Anglian Daily Times
  13. You would think that the run up to christmas would be rife with tips, but we usually do alot of LA work the only tip we might get is on the end of a discarded needle!!
  14. I was about to leave the house this morning and my workmate phoned me. He had found a loaded rifle (not sure if it was a 22 or something bigger) in some undergrowth on a dog walk! He spoke to police who said they would be over to get it 'at some point' this morning. We were saying how bad it would of been if kids found it Oh well, first sunday working in a long while! anyone else found something that dodgy before?
  15. 'twas a good surprise indeed! paid for my weekend. do the bosses get tips? i always thought it was pity money for us poor employees
  16. very nice. has it been reduced heavily before?
  17. a crown thin that takes a day will cost the same as a dismantle that takes a day. the only average cost you can determine is day rates. around east anglia it's between £300-500 for 2 men teams. still quite vague!
  18. i'm using it at the moment in a vt/hitchclimber config. i also switched from op and find beeline bites better. i can't comment on durability although i guess because of the softness it won't last as long as op.
  19. A few Ash dismantles from today. The old bloke next door had all the wood and brash, cut it up and dragged it himself! Needless to say the groundy won't need a shower tonight. We had a decent camera on site for once.
