  1. done? merrist wood is 150 miles away including the dreaded m25. also from the merrist wood website.... Tuition Fees: £ 1895.00 Exam Fees: £ 312.10 Other Fees: £ 500
  2. at the college i went to, one of the tutors said that most of the 16-17 year olds, that have just completed their year of nc/nd, are completely useless and will be stacking shelves in the following months.
  3. hahaha! thats brilliant! and i see the old faithful 'lopping and topping' comes first in their skills!
  4. £1,800
  5. i always load the images to ImageShack® - Image Hosting then you copy the html code of the image onto the description (make sure you click the html tab first, the click back to standard) that way you can have as many pictures as you want for free rather than 12p each AND you can have them much larger than ebay lets you have on its photo uploader.
  6. good news! hopefully if they set someone up again, they will get them to do something more than fell three 4-inch diameter trees. like a tricky dismantle over obstacles.
  7. i did the same course (although mine was 10 week). there were 3-4 people on the course your age, all found employment quickly. age doesn't matter really, as long as you can do the job well and safely.
  8. nice one steve - looked like a nice getaway. hope none of you bought back any std's and that massive bandit 'chipper', wow!
  9. in the summer we worked 9-4.30, in the winter its 8.30-4. same hours, just start and finish earlier. if you charged 2 hours less a day, you would lose £600-800 a week! over the winter months that's about 10 grand!

    gadget show

they are making go karts powered by big stihl chainsaws. might be worth a look ch.5 8pm
  11. if you are using firefox (which i'm sure you are) then download this dictionary add-on.... https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3366 it works like MS word, with a red line underneath the words that are spelt incorrectly. i'd look like a right dimwit without it (or rather more of one)
  12. Toppard™
  13. We have been working at Hedingham Castle, North Essex, for quite a few days over the last month. The grounds are amazing. There's a 1000 year old yew somewhere but i couldn't see it (haven't really looked too hard for it).
  14. wow! i need to go to NZ. i've always wanted to even before i got into tree work. now i have its just another reason
  15. also thanks to justin and co. ordered some elten fellsmen's for a friend, they didn't have them in, so sold me the fellsmen experts for the same price! (and got some keyrings chucked in )
  16. yes i agree but one of the surrounding healthy oaks randomly shed a massive limb so the customer is a bit worried. any positive id on the fungi?
  17. its along a track/road leading up to a couple of houses and stables. a few cars and pedestrians go by each day so potentially high risk. we dead wooded the most dangerous limbs that were over hanging the road so it should be ok for now.
  18. not quite sure. the picture of the trunk shows what i mean, but was out of reach to inspect closer.
  19. I'm a bit of an amature at p&d so would like some advice to what it is and the next step to be taken.... As you can see there is alot of die back on this oak (the surrounding oaks are perfectly healthy) and the leaves have mostly died off. There seems to be two types of fungal growth at the bottom, one has shrivled away and turned black (is it honey f?), the other is more prominent. There seemed to be a bit of black sooty stuff, although this could be something completely unrelated and harmless (?) thanks
  20. cheers
  21. good call, you'll end up buying one anyway after a couple of weeks struggling with the 192.
  22. that would be handy being only a few miles away...
  23. purely from me being vein. i like the look of their clothing (red + black ) also i may buy a little 2150 ground saw for cheap, so would need parts in the future.
  24. this seems in good nick.... Stihl MS192T Professional Top Handle Chainsaw MS 192 T on eBay (end time 03-Nov-09 22:00:56 GMT)

here's a few pictures of this years folly.... the apples are from an old, abandoned apple orchard behind my house. i had to make a tunnel through a 20 metre thick bramble bush to get to it!
