  1. I would like to hope that whatever was present has been compartmentalised and left the building - but what's the chance? I've proposed heavy reduction (to a 10m toppard) if retention is preferred or just plain old removal, under a quote for works rather than a tree condition report.
  2. Oak near some gardens in a patch of open space claimed by residents for parking and access to properties. some mechanical damage perhaps the original cause of wounding - today pictured the fruiting bodies. seems to have walled pretty well though having said that the tr ratio is certainly undermined. the two wounds have coalesced to form a chunky cavity. is this all down to HF? cant see signs to tell me HF is just the secondary making the most of what at some point must have been exposed sapwood, no other fruiting bodies visible. its an old row of trees so its loss would be a shame. the canopy is very healthy - but this might be its downfall.
  3. bumped
  4. Davies I forgot that we'd used B&A last time, got them mixed up and didn't realise till after i'd sent in the quote. didn't matter as we won the work any how, but had to then turn it away as we couldn't do it soon enough. Wish I'd got the right guys as he's been a bit of a pain in the bum (long story)
  5. good price for the crane. we had a quote for a crane roughly same size recently and they were coming in around 850 + VAT
  6. I have no experience of this sort of work on a commercial basis so my input is limited but could you not roughly mark out say quarter acre to help you visualise then multiply up from there? say 5 acres for the 1.88 hectare plot? I'd guess half acre a day to the specs you've said 2 guys and saws 300 squids per day = £3000. sound like a lot to me would be interested to see how those in the know would price it.
  7. thanks for the input. anyone out there using one of these and to what effect with what rope. thanks Dean
  8. Hi what rope are you using on your portable winch - looking at the pcw5000 from frjones etc. intending on using it for just one particular job pulling cut rhody up a cliff. may need up to 100 metres. wondered if a 3 strand poly prop type rope might be good as its cheep and could be replaced regularly - but will it instantly melt?
  9. again still looking
  10. I am struggling. Those guys who have talked the talk have then not turned up for a chat. The only other reason I can think of is the insecurity of changing employer just before Christmas?

  20. Wanted Operative. requires PA1 PA6 (6aw and advantage but not necessary) 2-3 days work. must have own ppe and equipment. contact Dean: 07533418103 [email protected]
  21. Just want to bump this, Advert should be live on arb jobs too but isn't yet - for some reason. I know I'm asking a lot but there's got to be some one out there with practical skills, arb knowledge and the ability to run a team.
  22. as others have said - eco plugs are the answer if used correctly. use of round up adjacent to a water course should not be carried out without prior notification/ application to the EA who will want to see your PA1, PA6 and PA6AW quals. I wouldn't expect them to say yes to using roundup for this, In any case Neat roundup would be overkill. Only other method I can think of is to spray the leaves rather than cut it then treat - then allow to die and then remove. - Don't see the EA giving approval to this either tho'.
  23. Sorry Mendip - don't know how to pull a quote - my clutch worry was about the cabstar not the landy as using low box helps tons. going back to what others mentioned about capacity, I think the box on ours holds 4.5 cube. vehicle weighs 2.2T with one guy sitting in seat.
  24. Wanted- Climbing, Arborist: must have: CS 30,31,38,39,40,41. Preferably MEWP, Chipper. pre 96 or trailer licence. spraying PA1,PA6AW an advantage. Must be highly motivated and be able to motivate a team. Must be experienced. Must be able to work to a high standard at a commercial pace. Must Have good tree ID skills. Some level of industry education an advantage (e.g. ISA. tech cert etc.) If you feel you meet these requirements- Please apply in writing with a CV to: [email protected] Regards Dean Osell
  25. should tow fine with 2 ton Just about to get rid of a 130 and exchange it for a cabstar - My concern is the clutch? with the landy at least if you really need it you've got low box, and this is great for saving the clutch when manoeuvring with weight and a trailer too. Never been so overweight that ive needed low box on the road but I'm sure I recall someone saying that you could use 1 through to 5th in low then move to 3rd in high box then up to 5th high, and away.
