  6. technically lowering equiptment is different from PPE and is not subject to 6 monthly loler inspection and should not be used for climbing on. if you had a further accident HSE man would have something to say about it:001_smile:
  7. dont know much about it but here's one i found if it works? [ame= ] [/ame]
  8. personaly i always have a ring strop on my harrnes for girth hitching branches or whatever i would girth hitch it round the pole and make a false crotch useing a spare 3 way karabiner which i also carry this is normal climbing kit for me and the other guys i also have a rescue fig of eight a grigri other ring strops spare karbs in the bag on site. if it was going to be a three person rescue i.e. the casualtl being belayed to the ground then you would have time to grab these while the rescuer climbed up to the casualty and probably time to phone 999/112
  9. that will depend on the fence if you dig it in or put a wire at the bottom to hold it down then it is unlikely IMO

  11. a friend of mine who has a lot of them uses the branches from the trees to cover coppice stools and the new growth comes up through it the deer can't get over the heap of branches without falling through he also shoots some (as many as pos) but his coppice blocks are good enough for the forestry commission man
  12. oops ive got a stich from laughing at my stupid self LOL:001_smile:
  13. anyone looked at the forecast ? got this from met office website UK Outlook for Friday 10 Apr 2009 to Sunday 19 Apr 2009: The weather is expected to remain unsettled throughout with bands of rain crossing the country from time to time. Between the rain bands, some brighter interludes are likely, but also with scattered showers. Rain or showers may be heavy at times, especially, but not exclusively in the north and west, with the best of bright or sunny intervals in the south and east. It will be windy on occasions too with a risk of gales, again especially in the north and west. Temperatures, generally near average for April, but may turn cooler for a time in the north next weekend with a risk of snow for a time for the highest Scottish mountains. Otherwise, it should occasionally feel warm in sunny breaks, especially in the east and south. its a long way of and it might not be an accurate forecast:001_smile: Updated: 1128 on Sun 5 Apr 2009 Printable view days 1 to 15
  14. here's a tree we got called out to in the winter. i managed to get the tree out of the green house without breaking any of the already broken glass we toped the tree behind (it was going to fall if left) and used it as a spa tree then looped a rope from a tree behind the camera under the tree on the roof and used a winch to lift the tree back the way it had come. we then pulled it round using a landrover winch and laid it down beside the green house. all of this in the howling wind and side ways snow. Great fun

    monolith work

i wonder then, if you bored through the limb several times taking the line of the fracture you wanted to cause into account, then perhaps a few well placed niks and cuts to cause a break to happen. then applied the preasure. could you get the twisting ripping kind of fracture wich wind damage causes rather than a clean tear (barbours chair) one another point dose the climber stay up the tree, move out of the way or ?

    monolith work

with referance to the fracture type cuts you have done. what method do you use to cause the limbs to fracture? as i was thinking about some dangerous hangers we removed from some oaks by winching them out (having trowlined them) as they were considered to dangerous to climb under which left an almost natural tear off would it be possible to use this method.
  20. i have that book its good especialy handy for the weight tables in the back its a good idea to look up how big a section you should be rigging (at least once)
