  1. It looks like a golden leaved Ulmus cv, possibly Ulmus x hollandica "Wredei" - Golden Elm.
  2. Oops, sorry, I shouln't have been so lazy and just skimmed the text before I went to the pretty pictures
  3. Have carried out anything more in depth than a VTA? I would be curious to see the extent of the decay
  4. Shoot Up Hill in London NW10 always makes me larf, in a slightly seedy kind of way
  5. I'm making an educated guess that you have already bookmarked their 'site, but in case you haven't, here's a link to their homepage: WoodPlan Tree Management Software Systems
  6. Oooh, harsh. Leaving that poor hitcher to suffer at a service station. You have an evil streak I'm surprised that there aren't even more uni' drop outs. When you're 18 or so, you are still developing and changing rapidly, discovering your likes, dislikes, strengths (and weaknesses). To ask someone of that age to choose what they want to do for for the rest of their lives, when they have only just begun it, seems an almost impossible choice to me. Yet due to peer pressure, parental expectaions and now Government social engineering, thousands of teenagers are expected to do just that every year, ending up comitting themselves to three years of learning something that a lot of them have no real interest in. The amount of graduates that end up working in an industry with no relevance to what they studied bears witness to this. I admire anyone who knows what they want to do in life and who set about achieving it, whether they are 18 or 80 and whether they are getting us tax payers to fund them or scraping the pennies together themselves. And I can completely understand why someone will drop out and change direction - I've done it myself plenty of times! It was just unlucky for that hitcher that he got picked up by a grumpy old so and so like you!
  7. That would be much appreciated. Thanks. I just hope your filing system is slightly less chaotic than mine, otherwise neither of us will see it. The Mills & Boon have run out and I need a light bit of evening reading matter...
  8. Has anyone got an e copy of the BRE publication above they can send me? I did have a hard copy, but the tidying fairies seem to have eaten it... Cheers.
  9. Who cares? LoL. As long as it's fun for us adults, that's all that matters, surely
  10. It's refreshing to see such a good attitude towards habitat retention. The tree owners should be commended and so should you for doing a great job.
  11. Hello? Jayman, hello??? Are you having a crack party with the new arrival and that's why you havn't let us know you're still alive?
  12. Where are you? If it's in or around London, then I can PM you details some of the larger organisations that may be of help to her.
  13. Aw, g'wan. Then I can misinterpret what you say and go off on a mini rant at you as well
  14. It's a highly complicated issue, from both sides. When you are genuinely homeless, there are always options and agencies available to help get you a bed for the night and look at helping with a more long term solution. There are also loads of help agengecies for mental and substance abuse problems, but if you are new to sleeping rough, it's terrifying and you may be a bit stunned by it all, distrustful and unsure with where to go to get help. You mum is comendable and very brave. And very trusting. It's not just media hype - there really are a lot of people claiming to be homeless that either aren't or are in a very unstable state. So it's not surprising that people are very reluctant to open themselves and their home up to help a stranger.
  15. I didn't realise Ugg now made balistic booties... I wonder if they come in pink? (I've obviously got the wrong end of the proverbial from your original post and for that, I is sorry ).
  16. After all that, no I didn't. I wasn't even aware that it was on Was it any good? WAS it full of man hating ladies?
  17. OK, point clarified
  18. It may not be meant that way, but it does come across as a bit condescending.
  19. That's a a slightly misogynistic comment, don't you think?
  20. Yes. Yes. Yes. I used it for a year on one of my recent LA positions. It's not the best that I have used for data capture while out on site, but it's still pretty good. However, it more than makes up for that when it comes to data interegation and report building. Try and get a demo, like Mr B, or see if anyone local to you uses it and try and see it in action.
  21. Yes What do you want to know?
  22. Most recently I've been working with Woodplan and it's about the best that I've worked with - so far. It's got a really good balance between on site / office use, GPS, report writing etc.
  23. Cheers! I'm already with CTC and they've put me forward for the Westminster position. I haven't heard back yet. It would stave off starvation for another few months, but, tbh, I'm getting a bit sick of short term temping and could with something more long term. Lewisham's a possibility that I wasn't aware of. I think my commute would make it unsuitable tho. I don't want to go for a job that I know would be untenable long term - I've done that and ended up thoroghly miserable. Some Consultancy will come to their senses, realise what an asset I am and snap me up soon enough, no doubt
  24. I was thinking of the various asset management apps I have used for the different LAs I've worked for. In retrospect, my situation's a bit different because I have never had to invest in the tech myself, I have simply used what's already available. I will now gracefully butt out
  25. Sorry, but my days of wearing spandex and my undies over my tights have long gone. I don't get any where near drunk enough for that sort of thing these days. But feel free to wear your cape if you like
