  1. Welcome to the 'site, AshvilleArborists. And welcome - in advance - to old London town. October isn't the best time of year to go tree hunting here as it's quite likely to be grey, cold and damp. A bit like the other 11 months of the year! LoL. If you get the opportunity, you should really try ang get to Kew Gardens Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew - Home Page. That has the advantage that if the weather's crap, you can hide in the glass houses. Very close to Kew is Syon Park Syon Park: The London home of the Duke of Northumberland. Although quite small, the gardens are beautiful and have some large and unusual tree species. A bit further south of Tonbridge is Bedgebury Pinetum Bedgebury National Pinetum and forest is the premier outdoor site in the Southeast of England.. The kids (if you're dragging any around with you) will love the "Go Ape" climbing there.
  2. I'm really sorry D, but owing to my lack of a driving licence, clean or otherwise, I won't be able to apply to be one of you minions.
  3. How about edelwiest? It's not a plant I'm particularly familiar with. My best guess would be Marsh cudweed (Gnaphalium uliginosum).
  4. You'd better have had a hose down after a week of camping before I see you on Sat'
  5. As you now know who to look out for and who to avoid, what day(s) are you all intending to turn up on? Saturday for me

    Dog damage?

It's becoming a huge problem here in London, especially in the more central Boroughs. There's an advisory leaflet from the LTOA: Downloads | Dog Damage to Trees

    Dog damage?

Bored kids + status dogs + lack of intelligence = the kind of damage you see there. You often get the little darlings using their knives to bebark the tree as well.
  8. Christ, that looks horrendous. Hopefully, when he's had his op' it will heal quickly and won't look anywhere near as vivid. Wish him a speedy recovery from all of us here. It says a lot about the kind of person he is that he's not seeking retribution against the dog or, I'm guessing, the owners
  9. Is that a Chinese Tulip I see there Ben? Nice find if it is

    whos this

Me getting compared to PH??? How very dare you!
  11. That could mean one of two things. My first choice would be, yes please! I'll be your bbfe if you do. Or, somewhat less flattering, that I'm being a bit dense for not realising that you have access to it already. Which one ?
  12. What course are you doing, Mark?
  13. It's not one that I'm familiar with. Yet. THE book when I was a bit younger was "Modern Primitives", published in '86, I think. I like the whole story of body adornment: the history, the psychology, the styles, the culture. Of tattoos, piercings, brandings etc. It's a fascinating insight into people.
  14. Are you wearing the same outfit to Jonesie's?
  15. I could've changed my avatar, but I wouldn't want to be responsible for getting all of you over excited. Small. Blonde. Dressed in leather. Scowling. Fairly unmistakable.
  16. How are the initial plantings doing? I seen to remember they went in during that really hot spell.
  17. I'd love to, but the only photos I have of me would get me banned
  18. I really would like to think that there is a more innocent explanation of their behaviour, too. However, if it were my pony that was in difficulty (or any animal, come to that) then I would do everything possible to try and save it, and not stand on the by and rely on one total stranger to dive in and try to help.
  19. I find it totally incomprehensible why anyone would want to harm another creature, let alone take pleasure in causing it's death just for "fun". Their actions are utterly sickening and totally pointless. And the travelling community whinge and wonder why they are reviled so much...
  20. You've got some nice work there, Yeti I particularly like the wrist work.
  21. Aw, shucks... You're most welcome, hon. I did want to copy and paste the entire article here, but I din't want to fall foul of any copyright issues.
