  1. No, I am all alone. Are you lonely?
  2. So we should accept and trust what we're told and never question? Should we suck it up passively like the trad silent majority?
  3. If we freely share our opinions then our foolishness reduces because others will show us our errors. It's called democracy. Of course, if you think only opinions of retired or retarded 70+ year olds is important for us to understand what's going on then explain please why
  4. So, a retired 75 year old man leaks proof to back up a conspiracy theory. He claims he has seen a document and because of his past associations, you say you want to hear more? Good job Trump is only 73 and refuses to read any documents. The thing about being in your 70s is everything starts to leak uncontrollably ?
  5. The media is an outlet for the whole range of public feelings on any given subject so, luckily, we don't have to investigate the truth of anything ourselves. Remember this old nugget from Yes Minister? Sir Humphrey: The only way to understand the Press is to remember that they pander to their readers' prejudices. Jim Hacker: Don't tell me about the Press. I know *exactly* who reads the papers. The Daily Mirror is read by the people who think they run the country. The Guardian is read by people who think they *ought* to run the country. The Times is read by the people who actually *do* run the country. The Daily Mail is read by the wives of the people who run the country. The Financial Times is read by people who *own* the country. The Socialist Worker is read by people who think the country ought to be run by *another* country. The Daily Telegraph is read by the people who think it is. Sir Humphrey: Prime Minister, what about the people who read The Sun? Bernard Woolley: Sun readers don't care *who* runs the country - as long as she's got big tits.
  6. My fault! Didn't follow your link but chortled at a few youtubes of Susie Dent's Guide To Swearing
  7. True. And here's a man who understands about waiting for flavour intensity not just instant heating up! Plastic is v expensive for the home-cooker/seller. We'll see
  8. So a Morrisons microwavable tray is 1cm of mince and 2cm of tatty. We'd do 2cm mince and 2cm tatty. What we're chuntering over is packaging. Costs say tin trays, cardboard tops and sold frozen. Cos we're aiming at tasty local convenience rather than choice cuisine, we've just got to judge if microwaving (4mins) is more popular than oven baking (30mins). Thanks for input. And agreed on your suggestion. No one wants more super value tasteless budget food from a "home" and of course a certain class of customer is always going to go with the reassuringly expensive (Stella) option
  9. Thanks for the tip on listing selected ingredients ? (For bleeting sheep, think "I am Groot")
  10. Can you PM an estimate for a day's hire of your big drum chipper? It's the last of our eucalyptus logs. Over 100. 3-5 mtr lengths. 30cm dia max. Thanks
  11. I'm old, failed at school and only got political after brexit so am well behind the curve. Would appreciate your views on this: Donald Trump has declared war on US democracy. Can he be stopped?
  12. We're not the only ones lambing late then. We run our sheep on rented pasture in surrounding area. Payment usually in kind like pasture management, fencing upkeep and of course the odd bit of tree/hedge work too. Having lots of grass for milking ewes is our main reason in delaying. Commercial sheperds obviously want the spring prices so breed accordingly. We sell meat privately and thinking of trying adding extra value by going into making up meals using the meat too this winter. Single serving portions of sheperds pie kinda thing. Morrisons does them for £1. We'd do it for less
  13. Someone tell me why swearing is tolerated by mods on arbtalk? Dont get me wrong. Swearing's good. Like the saying goes: "Those who can do, those who cant
  14. what we thought too. Good luck with chainsaw
  15. Here. We've got a 2-tooth on Amoxicillin. 5 day course. One of her lambs nibble a teat raw and infection got in. We were hoping to save that side (drugs are dear and young vets are vague). We've pulled only watery stuff out. No pus nor glup. My question is when udder goes rock hard and nothing else comes out, what happens next? What else can we do?
  16. Great. It's about mastitis. We lamb late. If I ask a Q, could you comment?
  17. Temp de-rail. Do you have sheep? If so, you might help me with a prob
  18. Dont forget 2011 England riots - Wikipedia Looting after a black fella was killed by UK cops. Now its happening in the US (again!) Remember Wind in the Willows. I say that because I'm old. Do you think the hippies in the 60s were really all about peace love and understanding. Hell No! They were cynical opportunists like the underclasses today. It's an industry of pretense cashing in on boredom, panic and injustice. Displaying white guilt, acknowledging white privelege is bollox for suckers. Best experience would be leaving Toad Hall. Find the TED talk about a white south african boy who moved away from his comfortable gated community to a black shanty town because he said "I was racist and I wanna stop". You'll be encouraged that the divisions the media portrays aren't as divisive as we're led to believe
  19. and seasoning? tanalising? I hear you. Milling is great. Really!
  20. Timber can be expensive the direct route or the long way round. What are the costs of going to site and milling construction grade lumber (US?) and transporting it back compared to having those logs delivered in and milling them on site (& clean up). I get the pleasure of milling. I did it for years as a semi-hobby. My point is, it comes down to how much time you charge yourself out at
  21. Count the 8"x2" lengths - if that's what they are. Graded at C24? We built similar with rejected seconds & that still weren't cheap
  22. Highland Clearances | Scottish history | Britannica And where would u &yours be cleared off too?
  23. If I wasn't so web unsavvy, I'd upload 3 utube links to the songs that keep popping up in my head at the mo. Ruts - Babylon's burning (rioting disorder) XTC - We're only making plans for Nigel (lefty control freakery) ChumbaWumba - I get knocked down but I get up again (individual resilience)
  24. Rural or character grade perhaps. Look at the epicormic shoots. It's woodland edge. Compare prices of oak posts from your local sawmill/supplier. Milling may well be better than firewood
