  1. wish they sold them in the uk. I would change my defender for one of those any day.
  2. Apocalypse now- brilliant film. I didnt like the re-release with the director's cut as much though. Disneyland? ****, man, this is better than Disneyland!
  3. I would have one of those like a shot, over a landrover any day.
  4. Wind your neck in mate:biggrin:. You know NOTHING of the circumstances of that picture.
  5. In fact, i cant see any justification at all. The 2 years it takes in R&D and CE marking is no justification at all given the number of items sold worldwide, the minimal (apparently) changes/ improvements oover the last few years, and on top of that the miniscule number of times that these things are actually needed. I mean, how many of us chuck away these garments because they have been cut with a saw and have actually served their intended purpose??? Very few indeed. I imagine that the number of memebrs of this forum that have had a chainsaw actually cut into the kevlar layer is minute. One gets a bit bored of hearing the rhetoric from the makers and HSE etc TBH.
  6. I wouldnt entertain buying stretch airs out of principal. We are doing this jjob to make money for ourselves not Pfanner. I see now that the stihl tissue-flex are up around £200 inc the dreaded now. WTF????? Like you say Mark- a joke, and a bad one at that.
  7. And isnt it just insulting the way stihl magnanimously include ONE 3" square repair patch with their trous.....within no time at all ther is little or nothing left to sew that to anyway- more like a fishermans net:thumbdown:
  8. Hahahahahahahahahaha....
  9. Wearing a pair of lightweights over the top and braces will protect the outer layer for years (the lightweights) and go a long way to countering crotch ripping probs (braces), as well as covering up any rips that do occur in unsightly places........
  10. Nice telly Lm20....nicer Missus. She's a babe:biggrin:
  11. Cleft is always the best, as it tends to cut across very few of the grains, leaving little to no end grain. however due to the durability that SC has anyway, i wouldnt get too concerned. It dooes split readily though, and looks awesome when cleft.
  12. Just what i was wondering. Frank- have you still got the naim stuff?
  13. Probably not, but we're well nosey:blushing:
  14. I used to have a 2.5k sound system in my living room....PA gear with 18" bass scoops...kept breaking glass though, but for the cinema effect it was effective enough lol!
  15. Cheers jon. Rest assured it is abused on an almost daily basis.....I weighed in at 9.2 tonne at the quarry about 6 years ago......half loaded trailer and butt with stone....about 6 months later loaded the trailer and landy with wet stony slaty sort of stuff till it was flowing off the sides, using a tractor and loader. .....as they say, 'when needs must, the Devil drives'.

Oh i have opinions, but would take up most of arbtalks bandwidth, and TBH this is yet another thread where all the posts appear to be based on what the media tell us. I spent years getting het up about the way this world is run, and how out of order and duplicitous it is, and realised that there is no positive outcome. Humans are scum, and greedy selfish scum at that, so there is little or no point in getting worked up about it, especially based on what the media tell us.

About

Arbtalk.co.uk is a hub for the arboriculture industry in the UK.

If you would like to contribute to making this industry more effective and safe then welcome.
Just like a living tree, it'll always be a work in progress.
Please have a look around, sign up, share and contribute the best you have.
