  2. Ditto. I can easily check if you tell me the method.
  3. I have yet to find a gizmo, gadget, clamp or machine that would even tempt me away from hand jobs.. Sorry...i mean hand filing
  4. Yeas i have. I can open threads, but there are all these things like a roman villa, a speech bubble with a star in it, some little red men with radio waves coming out of their heads, a villa with a magnifying glass , a gold star etc etc.....ikt looks nothing like arbtalk and i dont get it.....
  5. Please can someone tell me a few pointers on how on earth to use this tapatalk thing. I log on, and get a load of symbols. I can find threads, but havent a clue how to post, or even better, how to post a picture. There dont seem to be any instructions at all.
  6. Having a walk around here in Ellesmere, Shropshire, I have to agree- the amount and size of acorns is phenomenal on the trees here, as are the sloughs, although my wife says that rain has been a stranger. Not noticed any broken limbs as such, but Lucy said she would keep an eye out. Even the terminally ill looking oak that i posted about a while back (with the completely rotten base if you recall it) is showing signs of massive fruiting! I have some pics, but the wrong lead for this computer, but if i understood that uber confusing tapatalk on my blackberry i would post!

  8. This is beautiful. Chinese hands. [VIDEO]
  9. Cant hooks and bars. STIHL Cant Hook For Stockyard This is with a PTO winch on my defender, but could be done with any winch given suitable anchoring: http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/video-forum/32198-parbuckling.html
  10. If it was your money you were spending then give it a go....as it isnt, I wouldnt waste the time/ money.

    stihl 08

Faster, more safely, with much better anti vibe etc etc etc....
  13. Weaver or treemotion. I have both. The weaver is heavy and cumbersome until you are in the tree, and for spiking poles it is the mutts nuts. Having said that the treemotion is the final word in harnesses........I rarely get the weaver out now...(although i might use it on a pole tomorrow morning having said that hahaha!!)
  14. I have heavy duty land rover springs with land rover helper springs and a roll bar fitted. I popped the standard shocks doing my usual overloading with about 2.5 ton of chip and towing the 935 off road. I spoke to the (phenomenally knowledgeable and uber experienced) Mid Cornwall 4x4 where i get bits and servicing, and they advised them. I didnt think i would find much difference, but they are really responsive when the truck is empty, and i dont get that awful hardness that used to be present, and the bounciness that went with it, just really good road handling and excellent manners. When loaded to the gills the wallowing has gone too, and cornering is basically better all over. I hope that sort of explains it. Just buy a set- they are surprisingly cheap, and you definintely WON'T be disappointed.

    As a collectors item maybe...
  16. No....
  17. Thank you Fungus.
  18. Terra firma is what i have just fitted. Should have done it years ago. Terrafirma | - Accessories for Land Rover Vehicles One of the best additions i have made to my land rover in 9 years of ownership.
  19. Heres a couple from the last year or so..... Agarics in the shade of Betulae in the cornish countryside..... Meripilus on an old stump (beech or chestnut:blushing:(the latter i think)) in Penryn. Not so much roadside, as above road.......unsure of species.
  20. Although i agree that fallen soldiers should probably be remembered, I am struggling VERY hard with the 'hero' part of it. They are soldiers. They signed up. They went to a bollox war for illegitemate reasons under the banner of anti-terrorism. That makes it even worse. Heros get the V.C. I have to (cautiously) agreee with the above two quotes aswell as the original sentiment of the thread.
  21. Here you go. debark logs, chainsaw attachment, wood furniture, wood cabinets, log cabins, building, carpenters, notch, chainsaw, debarker, Hud-Son Debarker, bark peeler, chain saw planer, chainsaw, chainsaw accessory, chainsaw notcher, debark logs, debarker, log Just Saws are the agent in this country.
  22. Do i understand this correctly.....? You want to make curved beams out of straight grained wood????? Old oak framers use curved branches milled on their 'side'. If this isnt what you mean, then Hudson make a sort of planer attachment for a saw for stripping bark prior to milling IIRC.
  23. This guy could probably sort yiou out with cannon bars too, as an alternative to Mr Bennet in Tavistock.
  24. I am desperately trying to remember the one I used to use. It comes in a silver tin........ It may have been Sikkens.
