  1. BTW- im the guy sitting down....
  2. Ill be there laughing at the guy laughing at the geek with a cone on his head.
  3. Stick to a file mate- you buy a bench grinder and its a whole new world of hassle, as mentioned above. Carry spare chains with you and sharpen at leisure- and make it clear to farmer palmer that you arent prepared to cut a tree down to below 4' if it has ever been anywhere a fence line, or they can pay a surcharge, just as in sawmilling. They want to try and save £1.50 and 5 minutes work by using a tree as a fence post then they have to cough up later. Simple as. IMO.
  4. It really is a bit sad isnt it- talk about total lack of job pride. Its not like it is the hardest job in the world either. They deserve knackered saws after doing that. I cant imagine gettting in the truck and going back to the yard after leaving that abortion.
  5. Cheers stevie- dont stress. I am still saving about 300 ffrom last years premium anyway, so i aint too bothered.
  6. Some of these chainsaw carvers really need to get their act together.....:001_tongue:Seriously- what a lash up.
  7. Sorry to say this stevie- gave up on nfu altogether, rung kilmarnock twice, awaited return calls but none came, and all the complications mentioned in above threads came to light. Sticking with p/l and e/l 5 & 10 mill respectively from yourinsurance, and £400 for 110 tipper with norwich union. Must have spent about a month on the fone- cant be arsed with it anymore.
  8. Jeez dean, does it never end for you mate?! What with your neighbour etc and now this. Bad luck mate.
  9. You're forgiven:001_tongue: Whether you need an o licence has got to be one of the most complicated set of rules there is to do with dvla other that registering lorries as agri vehicles. It is categorically not the case that weight determines the need for o licences- you can, for example, run a four wheeled tipper lorry carrying ten tons of hardcore....as long as it is for your own use. Carry stuff for anyone else, even once, you need the license. There is a guy down here with a sign written dodge fifty with a hiab on the back who does mobile milling and other tree related stuff, and he is totally legal without an o licence. If i go more than fifty miles from my base in my 110 loaded i need a tacho and o licence, even if i only do it once a year. If i dont then i dont need that licence. It is that complicated, and there are myriad moe rules and regs and conditions.....
  10. yeah- they need all that aid to compensate for their general crapness off road and the inability of the average hummer driver!!!!LOL:001_tongue:
  11. I agree- what swb said about fancy climbing stuff. May be in the market for some new hi-flex and a stein helmet etc and other run of the mill bits- depending on how the next few weeks pan out. Do you take that sort of stuff anyway?
  12. Haix protector pros. Had my last pair for several years, just tried protector lights- really light and comfy, but gone back to pros as they are gore-tex lined and super duper all over!! Heroes wear Haix.
  13. I think i remember 'timber cutter dartmoor' saying he had one kicking about a few weeks back- maybe worth pm-ing him? He's in plymouth.
  14. There's one on e-bay at the mo? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260388656131&ru=http://search.ebay.co.uk:80/260388656131_W0QQfclZ4QQfnuZ1QQfsopZ1QQkeywordZwoodQ20chipperQQoriginZhttpQ3aQ2fQ2farbtalkQ2ecoQ2eukQQtestZGadgetQ5fKWQQfviZ1
  15. Stick an a frame to every implement- you'll never look back. Shouldn't be a promlem mounting the winch in its own frame, just make sure you beef it up niceley- 6-5mm steel for the frame and the wiches own mounting bolts shoukd do it i would think.
  16. That'll be a "creep feeder" you are referring to stevie. The a-frame is basically two triangles- one has the mountings for the three point linkage, and the other, which is permanently fixed to whichever piece of gear, fits over the top of the triangle attached to the tractor. It is just so you dont have to mess around with three point linkage every time you want to change implement. Hydraulic top link is also a major advantage. How are you thinking of mounting the winch and everything else, or do you mean one thing at a time. A pto franchguard is awesome- but had you thought of hydraulic underfloor winches- that way if you had a roller fairlead front/back/side then you could winch any direction, and have it permanently mounted. Just a thought...
  17. Been kicking around farms most of my life- if you want a real big box- im sure you will as your mog can handle it- then go to you nearest steel stockholder and buy a load of box section and angle iron and weld mesh/ plate, and get down to your version of cornwall farmers to buy a quick release a-frame for rear linkage and weld the whole load together- hey presto you have a custom built oversize link box. From what i can tell, commercially available ones are never cavernous. Best of luck.
  18. I grew up near bournemouth- just outside wimborne!
  19. Transport box? What for- to replace chip box or something? Or do you mean what is also called a link box- goes on the back of tractor?
