  1. Mercedes 3litre straight six.......my old man had one and it was amazing.
  2. I felled one for a mate last year and he has been burning it overe this winter. Reckoned it was ok, but didnt last that long.
  3. I cant think of many if any timbers that are worth more as firewood than sawn timber, its just that the returns take longer to get.
  4. Dont really know how well it burns, but it is very high quality timber and pretty prized when milled......
  5. Add it to the mountain i have already, and every now and then get rid of a load of it at once to a landscaper i know, and offer it to anyone who cares to take it away. Most people offer payment.
  6. I was just thinking that. It looks like it is working really well, and smart-as too:thumbup: I love the silhouette pic where you are chucking the branch to your right.
  7. Check out the Riko stuff that there is an ad to on this site. Timber Cutter Dartmoor has one or theirs and it is very efficient.
  8. I imagine Monkeyd may be able to help....
  9. That sould turn out soe beautiful timber. You(or rather your customer!) may even end up wih some 'brown' oak out of the lower end.
  10. Nice stick John. Is it robur? And can you educate me to what the white marks are that you close-up photo'd, and what are the FBs the remains of? I was guessing merip or armilaria, but am probably wildly off the mark......
  11. Darkey i have been thinking about this. I take it that you are unqualified as you asked that particular question? I may be wrong there, but on your basic chainsaw ticket you are taught all aspects of saw maintainence, or at least you should have been. If you arent then you ought to if yoiu are thinking of becoming a professional user, and if you arent going pro it is still a very worthwhile course, as it will save you far more than the cost of the course in savings at your local garden machinery shop. Just a thought.
  12. Oh my god mate.........
  13. Very good point:thumbup1:, and a warm engine too.....
  14. Chain tension first, then idle settings, then clutch etc.
  15. Can some of you clever guessers spill the beans.......I dont know who dave is or the company....
  16. Like you say.....terrible money..
  17. Beautiful pics Robert. Did you ever see any of the late Tim Stead's work in burr elm? He was based up your way somewhere i think.
  18. Good stuff, Like the pic showing the secondary anchor.
  19. You find that with most 're-translations'.....
  20. Haha- just looked at your other thread and see you are just servicing....phew!
  21. My chiper is air cooled.......do i have to clean the rad too:sneaky2:
