  1. Hi guys. The above (Trees of Hope) is the website of a local couple who i have just read about in the local paper, who are doing lands End to John o' Groats by bike, and planting a load of trees along the way. Thought it might have been of interest.
  2. As skilled as ever Tommy. Hear hear. I dont really bother miling beech anymore, as i find it so hard to get rid of due to that attitude, yet as you say, it can be absolutely stunning:confused1:

    Stolen

Bloody hell thats bad mate. Lets hope some of it turns up and may lead to the rest. With that much surely something must slip out....
  4. Good set of pics mate. Is that at Longleat? David- as i was scrolling through the pics i was imagining you with a notepad and pen i.d.ing them all....

    Gutted.

Just came in for a cuppa to hear the Policeman that was shot in the face by Raoul Moat talking on Radio 4 about the fact that he will never see again. He said that he was gutted- he had never thought about things like not being able to make a cuppa without being taught, or finding his toothbrush. The bit that brought a sting to my eye and a bit of a lump (and i am in no way ashamed to admit it) was when he described how he would never see his daughter in her wedding dress. I think that it is terribe, and my heart bleeds for him and any others that have had similar, awful experiences.
  6. NIce one mate- sounds up to your usual standard:thumbup1: As regards fixing hangings on, are the holes already there? If so then i agree totally with resin. Lead is lovelty and all that, but resin is an improvement TBH. If there aren't holes already, I tend to make straps up to go round the post. This is basically as stone posts down here are granite, and I never relish the idea of drilling into them....
  7. I dont- as i dont have a detector. I have tried a couple of hand held jobs to no avail, but will be looking at the sort of thing you have now.
  8. Just had another gooberrs at those pics....SURELY you didnt dig the whole hole with a pair of snappers did you????? Or do you have a bar-iron too?
  9. Im glad its not just me that digs holes in rock in order to bury stupidly heavy rocks......
  10. Likewise Dean. Finding metal with a new chain is one thing.....finding it with a new bandsaw blade is VERY pricey.....you cant sharpen that, its nearly £30 down the drain.....
  11. I think that you should choose your ropes carefully as I think many would rot out fairly fast if left out all the time.
  12. Random or what!?!? Where was the meerkat?
  13. Yeah Ive seen the price of them, which is what has put me off in the past- Im to tight to take a £70 chance LOL. So you can really pul away on that thing no problem then?
  14. Sorry- of course, how foolish of me doh! Mike- you should seriously consider that offer from Frank- thats a pretty kind and rare offer mate- you may not get that chance again:lol:
  15. LOL- I doubt you are serious, but i would happily undertake the job! To have bought the ali planking etc new would have cost me around £290 plus the dreaded, if that gives you any idea. I would guesstimate that you could easily lose a grand doing it with ali, much less in steel.
  16. Frank- I THINK mike has a real, metal unimog....

Bad luck Matty. The more i read these threads from up country the more I wonder when it will become the norm down here soon..
  18. Hahaha. TBH that waas my first thought today driving to a job.........and passing some of the local gyps with shiny new greedy boards on their tranny:blushing: I am used to the glare now, and am well chuffed. This is the culmination of months of wanting and planning:thumbup:
  19. And an albino bat too!!
  20. Coll set of pics John. Pig of a tree. What was the MEWP vehicle?
  21. Fair enuff mate.........Im still interested in (scared of!!lol) the sword you have next to it!?!
  22. The pretension system when using a lowering bollard would possibly be of use. A three to one system like frank says, but incorporating a prussik loop on it to lock it off. Reg coates has done a vid about his RC2000 lowering device. It can be found here:Stein RC2000 Lowering Device At the end of the vid he demonstrates a 3-1 system and a simpler set up incorporating a prussic loop and pulley. I reckon it would be worth looking at that for some ideas. (scroll down the page to find the vid BTW)
