  1. Gray, used the new truck today - I won't be changing the back. Nor only it is secure and dry, you get so much more in it. Mine's got shelf down the sides and across the back which will take saws etc load of floor space as well. Funny how using something changes your mind!
  2. I'll get some pictures of inside tomorrow. I think it'll be a pretty good kit truck. It won't take logs or chip etc though.
  3. Does that tip? That's what I was thinking of doing... This is mine at the moment
  4. Gray, The quad tech is a great for kit (I think I only picked it up yesterday). This truck is for me to quotes running around alongside my lorry and tipper. I was think having the extra chip capacity might be useful. I'm going to run it for a month or so before going firm on a plan. What's on the back of yours?
  5. Just brought myself a 130 double cab with a quad tech workshop. I am mulling over taking the quad tech off and putting a standard hcpu tub on with tipping gear. Anyone done this? I was wondering how much higher the tub would be mounted. Not going out to measure up my tipper because it's too wet!

    Overloaded

Looking at the tyres there's some weight on there. Good effort😁
  7. Selector fork! Just had mine done. £408+vat for HD clutch, all components and labour. Hand it over to a garage.
  8. Timbernut, how has you mate wired it into the quad for power? Cheers Mark
  9. Terriers always got to be up on top of something😁😁. To be fair it's a pretty good trailer all together, doesn't take long to get the body off and put bolsters on. But unfortunately all my of cuts are a bit random so I use the tipper.
  10. Try the NFU I found them 50% of the next best quote!
  11. Trailer is still holding up well, the quad pulled this load easily now the ground has dried slightly. No dents despite my best efforts chucking logs in😁
  12. I went through vat reg last year and had same concerns. Work did drop off a bit but it soon picked up again. My profit has gone up because I realised a 20% price hike was significant so I went through my pricing again and came to the conclusion that if a customer can take a 20% increase they will probably a bit more. So far a year later it's still working. I find you loose the middle type of job - the small ones say £100 it doesn't make enough difference. The £300 ones I don't get so many, but I get more of the larger £700 jobs (talking domestic). As Steve said think how much vat you pay out every month, and it all comes back.
  13. Pm! Bloody predictive text and beer!
  14. I'll probably you.
  15. I've probably got something you can have, but I'm the other side of the river to you.
  16. I have to admit as long as its not too wet my lorry surprise you, it'll go up hills we can't get the land rovers up and over large obstacles. But your right once it sinks it takes some getting out!
  17. Sounds about right to me. Although for me 4x4 essential and I like the thought of a remote control crane, but not the repair costs😁
  18. Bob makes a point about train weights, it's with looking at as some are surprisingly low. Also, Bob what your thoughts on side tippers? Our local ag engineer thinks I may over stress the chassis and I could have issues with whatever is being tipped flowing under the wheels? I like Pete's set up but am not sure about using on mine cut to the extra height of the load bed...
  19. I'd normally gvw. The problem with older kit is getting parts!
  20. I've got a Mercedes 17t 4x4 it great. I'm a big fan of the crane at rear. However, my plan was to move the crane forward and put a tipper on the back. But I'd lose much of the utility of the crane. I'm not overly convinced of a sideways topper for to the chassis high on mine (it's 4x4). I considered swapping out for a 13t, but think you may so over load it. It's not to bad on fuel either. A log grab and clamshell bucket SSR really handy as well!
  21. Christ on a bike that could have been really nasty. Checked mind today. All OK thankfully!
  22. Hi Chipper wallah, I'll be up in Cheltenham Wednesday next week, I'll can tomorrow about the tip site cheers. Mark
  23. I think for the size and weight they're pretty good. But if you expect tractor capabilities you'll be disappointed. The next quad I get will have a winch on it.
  24. I think losing traction is down to the quads weight against the trailer weight. I've got a grizzly 450 so let much the same as yours. We over came it a bit by getting someone to sit on the front of the quad. I had the trailer axle about 2 third of the way down the trailer to put some force on the back wheels. However given the ground conditions, which were appalling the whole system worked OK. It was also quite steep, so if I started towing a load across the gradient then turned up hill once we were moving it allowed us to keep going.
  25. Report by all means, but make sure it's to someone who can do something about it. The TO? They can't/won't do anything. The Planner's can't tell me which builders to use in the same way they TO can't tell a private customer who can work on their trees - that way be big corruption! Stop watch for a bit have a giggle, then point at the base of the tree, mutter quietly shake your head and saying you're leave before the tree gives way😁😁.
